About this deal

The Apex Smart Bike is one of the most innovative pieces of home cardio equipment that we have had the pleasure to test in the last 12 months or so. In a space that is dominated by large interactive screens (that add hundreds and sometimes thousands to the price) it is sometimes hard to judge a bike on what it is truly designed for – but the Apex Smart Bike looks to put things right.

JLL have really worked hard when it comes to comfort levels and it seems they have focused their attention on the things that matter most – ride quality and user comfort. The saddle is one of the comfiest we have used of any spin bike, let alone spin bikes at this price point and the included gel seat cover takes an already comfortable saddle and makes it even comfier. Other than this, walking pads offer you everything you need to put in that half hour or more of walking without ever having to leave the room. How Do You Use A Walking Pad? With a focus on quality while offering great value for money to ensure all their customers enjoy their products and most importantly, improve their health and fitness level, JLL have gone from strength to strength in recent years. Their IC300 PRO exercise bike is proof of that as you are going to see throughout this review. So without further ado, let’s get right into it: JLL IC300 PRO Specifications Constructed with a steel frame, the Bodymax B2 Indoor Cycle offers good stability, a strong base and long-lasting durability. The strikes of yellow on the design look stylish too.

It’s a reassuringly big piece of equipment as well, measuring 202L x 89W x 150H cm. This is a well built, solid machine that will last you a very long time, as you would expect for the money that it costs. It weighs 114 kg, so bear this in mind when you have it delivered – you will need help moving it into position. Buying a spin bike can seem a little daunting but it needn’t be. Unlike some gym equipment, spin cycles are not the hardest thing to buy and the biggest factors should be longevity and budget – and often these two go hand in hand. In other words, the more you pay the higher quality bike you should get and therefore the longer it should last – of course, things aren’t always that simple so here are a few handy tips showing what to look out for. The saddle is also very comfortable thanks to good padding and suspension, and can be adjusted in terms of height and distance from the handlebars. The IC2 is a joy to behold and even better to use. There is absolutely no doubt when you set eyes on this studio bike that it is a machine of extremely high quality. It looks and feels sturdy and the high grade aluminium frame is sure to stand the test of time. Put it this way – if your body expends 2500 calories on an average day and you usually consume 2500 calories then you are not going to gain or lose weight. If you still consume the 2500 calories but add a spin session to your usual day that means you are likely to be expending 2900 to 3100 calories – which is putting you in a calorie deficit of 400-600 calories – in this case, yes you will lose weight. Why Buy A Spin Bike For Home

There are an infinite number of resistance levels with the Cyclo 6 and this is intuitively implemented the harder you pedal. But for those who like to be able to control the starting level of difficulty there is a resistance dial that can be used to find the right starting range for you. Each 30 minute spin session will likely burn between 200 and 300 calories, so if you spin for one hour per day that will be 400 to 600 calories you have burned that you might otherwise have done. However, if you then decide to eat 3 chocolate biscuits as a reward then you have just added on around 300 calories. If you then eat a chocolate bar in the afternoon because you feel good about your spin session you have completely negated your workout. That is me running steady state at 10kph. This isn’t even particularly slow – plenty of people would take longer to complete a 10km run!

The frame measures up at 104cm (l) x 54cm (w) x 116cm (h) and it has all the adjustability of the other models we tested. The design is very good with the water bottle holder in the ideal position and the centre console being optimally placed for perfect line of sight. It has a larger display than all of the other models we tested and the basic functionality of this is excellent – this does get covered up when you place a device in the holder though so you will need to use the dedicated apps rather than just watching your favourite TV show (which we wouldn’t recommend for spinning anyway). There is a large fan beneath the central console which can be controlled depending on how much you feel you need it and this is a welcome addition. Have you ever thought of investing in an affordable bike model with features similar to an expensive unit? We know that such a combination is rarely available, but there are always some exceptions. The Body Power SP.IC14 ind Every aspect of the IC300 is comfortable and the riding experience is enjoyable and challenging as you would expect. It is worth pointing out that this is one of the quietest bikes we tested which makes it ideal for home or flat use where lower noise levels might be important. We really can’t say enough good things about the IC2 so if you have the budget and intend to use your bike a lot then this is a great option to go for.You can connect wireless headphones to the treadmill via Bluetooth, so that you can clearly hear the instructions of your trainer, as well as the workout music, without any distractions.

A home exercise bike is a fantastic choice though to help you keep fit without needing to go to the gym or outside in the elements when the weather isn’t too good. (Most of the time in the UK then!) Over the years in fitness, I’ve come to learn that it’s good to have different options available. The Cyclo 3 Indoor Racer Bike (to give it its full title) is an impressive looking spin bike considering its relatively low price point. In fact, at the time of writing it was even more affordable thanks to a sale that JTX were running (linked below) – in fact they often have some of the most competitive prices for this level of bike. Don’t be fooled in to thinking this is a cheap imitation of the more expensive Cyclo-6 though, as the Cyclo-3 more than holds its own and isn’t something we would describe as cheap from a quality point of view. Not only are we endorsing this product after testing, but it is also given a ‘best buy’ award by the Independent thanks to its incredible build quality. It has a relatively small footprint which makes it ideal for use at home (dimensions are 120.5cm length x 63cm width and a maximum height of 126cm), it features a 7kg flywheel which is actually incredibly high performance and has up to 32 levels of resistance. You get 30 days of membership to the Echelon live classes and on-demand classes (as well as the app and all that comes with that) when you buy the bike and you can extend this if you wish – which you probably will want to do as the software is incredible and very motivational. Both will help tone your legs and particularly your calf muscles and both offer one of the most low impact cardio workouts available. Certainly, if you compare a spin session to a 30 minute run on a treadmill then you will not only cause less impact to your joints but you will also burn more calories. Advantages and Disadvantages Of Spin Bikes In essence, a walking pad is a small, lightweight treadmill alternative that is incredibly portable. The original template came from a team of product experts, including sports science professors and electrical and mechanical engineers, in Chicago in 2016.

Bikes on a budget

The Bodymax B2 exercise bike features a friction-based resistance system. The resistance control knob is located at a good height on the main frame and just a small reach away. No problem for you increasing or decreasing the intensity of your workouts. This spin bike comes with a magnetic resistance, which is a huge improvement from the typical frictional brake-assisted resistance found in most models. Magnetic resistance bikes tend to last longer and require less maintenance since there’s no rubbing together of components to damage any parts. They also run smoother and quieter than frictional resistance bikes. The first thing to point out is that this is an exceptional spin bike. It also has a whole range of interactive and connected features that would make the likes of Peloton shudder. What it doesn’t have though is a screen – and we think this is a real positive. The Apex Smart Bike is designed for use at home. If your home is like most modern homes it probably already has more screens than it needs – so why add another and waste hundreds of pounds in the process. The Apex can make use of your existing tablet or can even cast direct to your smart TV – meaning the need for that expensive screen is eradicated. Hundreds of thousands of people have walked probably millions of miles on walking pads since their inception. Though they seemed mostly to take off in the East at first, with consumers in China going particularly nuts for them, we are now seeing more and more of them on the global stage.
