About this deal

I'm like a kid at a candy store when it comes to Elle Kennedy books. Every time she releases a new one, I do a happy squeal and a dance around the room. I just can't help myself. Her books are my happy place.

If you're looking for a swoony and steamy New Adult sports romance, this will certainly fit the bill. Was it my favorite in the series. Not quite. But it still hit the spot just right.I’m not having kids with you,” I wheeze at Summer. “I don’t want to be part of your insane family.” “Oh hush, sweetie. It’s too late. I’ve become attached.” i loved a lot about this book, mostly the personalities and the discussions that were brought up. there's a talk about rape culture, misogyny, and abuse of power. and judging people for their outer appearance. we stan. Push/Pull: Yes They both push away at times, but I'd say the H is the main pursuer of the relationship. I didn't like this one, but I'm giving one bonus star because Jacob Morgan... I just love listening to that man talk.

I feel like I'm being so harsh on this book. I have decided I'm gonna try and take NA romances more lightly after this... if I find an hidden gem I'll be happy, otherwise I'll just read to have a good time... hopefully... Brenna needs to fake date Jake for reasons, and he agrees. But he wants real dates. So he talks her into it slowly but surely. Brenna can't tell anyone about these dates because her friends are Briar players and her dad, of course is the coach. It's supposed to be just some dates and some sexy times (which were hella hot, btw) but then someone catches the feelings. Or two someones. Conor and Taylor together were SO. CUTE. And I cannot stress that enough. They were so perfect for each other and I sound like a broken record, but EK really does pair her characters together perfectly. I loveeeeed the way Conor behaved with her and vice versa. Some of their scenes had me literally crying from laughter, they were SO funny and cute. And of course there was quite a bit of angst and damn if I didn’t enjoy those scenes too. Yum.You’d think it would be impossible to laugh while I’m writhing on the floor in agony. But Summer Heyward-Di Laurentis makes everything possible. Brenna was as feisty and spunky as I remembered her. Her confidence was a highlight of this book. There were a couple situations I wished she would have gone all out, but in the end she was true to herself. And I loved her for that. And going for what she wanted – Jake – really made my day. h rating: 4 stars. Summer. I appreciated her strength. She had a hard time of things, but she never let that effect how she treated others. H rating: 3.5 stars. Fritz. I liked him, but I definitely wanted to shake him a few times to communicate better!

In my opinion, no one writes a sports romance as impeccable as Elle Kennedy. The Risk is Briar U’s second instalment and was everything I had hoped it would be and more. Elle’s writing is always right on point and written with such precision, passion, thought and creativity. I absolutely loved The Risk from start to finish… it was positively perfect. It was the slowest burn of slow burn romances. We don’t get much action until 70 percent or so in. And after waiting for so long for this book to be written already, I was honestly just begging to get the ball rolling and not have to wait until I only have 30 percent left to read. Jake brings my head forward and slants his lips over mine, and it's the kind of kiss that's been missing from my life for so long. When enemies who have that witty banter and know that as rivals they must be far away, their attraction and emotional attachment is what makes them inseparable...This was a slow burn to beat all slow burn. The delicious push and pull between these two was EVERYTHING. Their banter and chemistry was like a fire that just burned hotter and hotter with each chapter.

I only see you.” He takes my hand, rubbing his thumb over the inside of my wrist. “Just as you are. I don’t imagine you as some impossible ideal. To me you’re…real.” His lips quirk in a half-smile. “Stubborn, opinionated, pushy, funny, intelligent, kind, too hard on herself, snarky, sarcastic, jaded, yet somehow a closeted optimist. I fell in love with you for you, T. Nothing you could say or do would embarrass me. Ever.” — Connor The storyline & characters was great, the only trouble is But then the last twenty five percent of the book my opinion greatly improved. During this part of the book, Summer finally really showed her moxy, both at school and at home. I really enjoyed the way things played out between she and Fitz. What I really enjoyed was Summer’s influence on Fitz. I loved the way she drew him out, even really without him realizing it was happening. Conor Edwards is a regular at Greek Row parties…and in Greek Row sorority beds. He’s the one you fall for before you learn that guys like him don’t give girls like me a second glance. Except Mr. Popular throws me for a loop—rather than laughing in my face, he does me a solid by letting me take him upstairs to pretend we’re getting busy.Brenna is a fun character and has a lot of heart. I loved seeing her overcome sexism in the sports field and work through her past mistakes as well as the relationship with her dad. Jake was the perfect mix of the sexy athlete and the college sweetheart. I adored him. There was something towards the end that kept this from being a 5 star for me, but it wasn't anything too awful. I just felt it was unnecessary. Still, it didn't take my love away from this book. Stupid comments notwithstanding, he’s a sweetheart. He has his own set of insecurities, but he’s also a goofball and knows how to cheer someone up. He was so easy to empathise, and I truly enjoyed his story and character development. I might’ve even teared up. Conor was just utter perfection and my opinion about him didn't change throughout the book. He's probably one of my favourites within this series. Just his big heart and kindness, and protectiveness towards Taylor throughout cemented me towards him. Heat level: Good. They have some good tension, chemistry, and scenes -- but not so much it takes away from the story.
