About this deal

Audio versions of module materials can be useful when you're on the move, on your daily commute, when travelling, or when away from home. You can also listen while doing other activities, such as household chores. The Digital Accessible Information SYstem (DAISY) format is a means of creating digital talking books for people who wish to hear--and to navigate--written material presented in an audible format. DAISY helps those with "print disabilities," including blindness, impaired vision, and dyslexia, to read electronic texts that have been converted into its format. The DAISY consortium was formed in 1996 by talking book libraries around the world to lead the transition from analog talking books into digital format.

You might want to listen to your study materials for a variety of reasons. It could be that you struggle to read materials in print or on screen due to a visual impairment, or a specific learning difficulty such as dyslexia, or because you experience migraines.Wow! Echoes of Christie's And Then There Were None but turned into something wonderfully original and wrapped in a genuinely creepy dysfunctional family fairy tale of a novel, this takes Feeney to the next level. LOVED IT!

We have successfully tested reading protected DAISYs on the Humanware Victor Stream Reader with Firmware 3.2 or greater and an NLS key installed. From the brilliant creator and bestselling author of the Oi books, Kes Gray, Daisy and the Trouble with... is a brilliant series that will be the perfect next step for readers who are starting to read independently. read aloud functions built into the operating system on your devicesuch as Windows, Google Chrome, Apple, Adobe PDF, Kindle and ePub First, you'll need a device that can read DAISY files. There's a list of all the suitable devices on daisy.org.Clever, sinister, claustrophobic, beguiling and utterly compelling. I was totally hooked from the first sentence. Digital Talking Books (DTB) go far beyond the limits imposed on analog audio books because they can include not just the audio rendition of the work, but also the full textual content and images. Because the textual content file is synchronized with the audio file, a DTB offers multiple sensory inputs to readers, a great benefit to, for example, learning-disabled readers. Some visually impaired readers may choose to listen to most of the book, but find that inspecting the images provides information not available in the narrative flow. Others may opt to skip the audio presentation altogether and instead view the text file via screen-enlarging software. Braille readers may prefer to read some or all of the document via a refreshable Braille display device connected to their DTB player and accessing the textual content file. DTBs containing a textual content file but no audio material might be accessed via synthetic speech, screen-enlarging software, or a Braille device. Our DAISYs are produced automatically within the workflow we currently use as we scan books. They rely on the OCR produced in the scanning process and are therefore susceptible to errors, which may include weird characters, non-words, and guesses at structure where we can't find any. We're thinking about ways to get community input into OCR and book structure error correction. (If you're interested in helping us, or know of good resources in these areas, please let us know.) Clever, compelling, confounding and absolutely delicious.' – Lisa Jewell, bestselling author of None of This is True Our Talking Books are available on DAISY CDs that hold around 25 hours of audio, all playable on the DAISY player of your choice. They’re loaded with chapters and sections so that our members can jump around the text at will – giving blind and partially sighted people the same reading opportunities as sighted people.
