About this deal

If that sounds familiar, it’s because Apple does something very similar when you use its audio and computing devices together with iCloud. It seems to work, but I could not figure out how to adjust the prioritization of sounds and devices the way Google says we should be able to do. As it stands, however, they mostly bring the company up to speed with competitor models that have been out for a while now. If you’re a Pixel phone devotee looking for a pair of compatible buds, by all means, go for it. Just don’t expect to be wowed. The pebble-like case of the Google Pixel Buds Pro feels robust and cool in our hands and the brushed plastic never collects fingerprint smudges. It charges either wirelessly or via USB-C, although it's important to note that you do not get a charging cable in the box, which doesn't exactly feel premium.

For your reference, we've compiled a list comprising of available Pixel Buds Pro shades per region. The Pixel Buds Pro fast-paired with our Android phone in testing; a pop-up notification appears on-screen when you open the charging case near the phone. The app then walks you through an earbud fit test to ensure you have an ideal in-ear seal for ANC and audio performance. You can skip this test, but it takes only about 20 seconds to complete. And the battery life is pretty stellar. With ANC off, you'll get up to 11 hours of listening time from the buds, and up to 31 hours total listening time with the charging case. With active noise cancellation on, you get up to seven hours of earbuds listening time and up to 20 hours of total listening time with the charging case – that's much better from just the buds than the Samsung Galaxy Buds 2 Pro or AirPods Pro, though is less total life than the AirPods Pro give you. Transparency on the Buds Pro is top-notch and within spitting distance of the AirPods Pro, which, despite being almost four years old, are still the best. The Pixel Buds Pro don’t quite elevate themselves to that magical feeling of wearing nothing, but you’ll have no problem at all hearing what you need and want to hear, including your own voice and those around you. The Google Pixel Buds Pro's battery provides 7 hours of battery life per charge with the ANC feature activated, a remarkable runtime that places these earbuds among the best in this field. The wireless earbuds can be recharged via the included charging case, which provides an additional 13 hours of battery life. This in turn can be recharged via a USB-C cable or by induction using a Qi-compatible charger. Pixel Buds Pro: Price UK I’m a little disappointed that Google chose to omit any kind of support for high-quality (or low-latency) Bluetooth codecs. With the standard SBC and nearly-standard AAC, you’re getting perfectly decent wireless sound, but without the aptX family of codecs, Sony’s LDAC codec or any kind of low-latency mode, the Pixel Buds Pro can’t quite make the most of their potential for fans of hi-res audio, or those who like to game — something of an odd choice given that Google owns a streaming music service ( YouTube Music) and a streaming gaming service ( Stadia).

Like the last few Pixel Buds, there’s not a lot to complain about here – nor is there a ton to recommend them over the competition. It’s not hard to image the Pros really impressing, had they arrived on the scene a few years ago. According to Google, a five-band EQ and spatial audio (for compatible Pixel devices) will be introduced later this year – and it finally arrived on March 7, 2023. So far the list of compatible devices only includes the Pixel 6, Pixel 6 Pro, Pixel 7, and Pixel 7 Pro, and requires the earbuds to update to the latest firmware version 4.30. Spatial audio will work with any app with 5.1 surround sound content, though some apps like Netflix might require a Premium subscription to access spatial audio. Google Pixel Buds Pro review: Active noise cancellation

While the Google Pixel Buds Pro follow the aesthetic of the Google Pixel Buds A-Series released in 2020, they nevertheless stand out from those with a more rounded design in the centre of which we find the famous G symbol that represents the brand. They are equipped with small support wings to offer maximum stability during your exercise or running sessions. Each earpiece has touch controls for accepting or rejecting calls, media controls, activating the active noise cancellation mode or changing the volume, similar to the AirPods Pro 2. Say Hello to ANC! Then again, thinking about things from a more practical perspective, of course the darker Charcoal hue of the Pixel Buds Pro makes sense. Ashy shades don't get dirty easily, and even if they do, you can't really tell.
