About this deal

First off, in this post we finally get an official size for the Barbarian. He’s 6’7″, that’s huge! No wonder he plows through goblins like they’re not even there! A player can only search for traps and secret doors in the room or corridor they are currently standing, and only if there are no monsters within the room or corridor. When this happens, the evil wizard character indicates where any traps may be and places secret door objects on the map. Trap tiles are only placed onto the board once a hero springs the trap. It is important for players to remember where traps are once they have been revealed. It's nice to see new monsters being added, certainly ones with special abilities such as this, as well as the ability to walk through other heroes, but this kinda sparks a logistics argument in my eyes. Frustrated, the Heroes have no choice but to follow the Wraith. The Wraith casts Dreadlights on the Guardian Knight, then flees again. Edit: Encarmine confirmed that Elvyler guessed the TRUE title based on the missing word in that Avalon Hill Investors meeting screenshot. Rise of the Dread Moon (not Knights at all!). Great!!

This tactic of hitting and running went on for 5 more rounds. Ultimately, the Barbarian died on round 10, the Guardian Knight died on round 12, and the Elf finally fell on round 13. Thanks to the efforts of a very dedicated fan on the HeroQuestFans Discord server, Eudoxio, they were able to get us a closer look at this image by running it through some up-scaling software to extrapolate some of the blurred out features. Finally, the last reveal, a set of cards representing potions, hopefully some new potions, and some rereleases of past potions. This creates the question, are we still going to get “Equipment” cards for the potions included in this expansion? In the past expansions, the “Alchemists Shop”, was both printed on the inside cover of the quest book, and included “Equipment” cards of the potions. Origins Award Winners (1991)". Hasbro also released the free HeroQuest Companion App, which aids a Zargon player, or fills the role of Zargon allowing the game to be played either cooperatively or solo. Personally I prefer my HeroQuest to be kept simple, but there is only so much that can be printed onto a card. This maybe was inevitable. Anyways, getting off topic a bit!

Long, Steven (November 9, 2021). "HeroQuest's 2021 Remaster is Here and it is EPIC". popdecades.com . Retrieved 2023-04-30. Crafting can only happen at specific times. In between quests, or in the presence of an Alchemist’s Bench. This is interesting, now furniture finally has a purpose other than just sitting there, looking pretty. Don’t get me wrong, it still looks pretty, but it’s nice to have some interaction now. I think there is already going to be a lot of plastic in this expansion. There’s the new Knight, Several new Elven characters, possible Cultists or Wizard type enemies, and we can’t forget Sir Ragnar. I doubt they’ll include more than one sculpt for the Specter. Any named specters, we’ll probably still have to use the Dread Sorcerer! a b Quest Book (included manual). North America: Milton Bradley (published 1990). 1989. pp.1, 3, 32. I told him of the dangers, and that he should be patient, for in time he would become a great Sorcerer. But Zargon could not wait; each night he broke into my study and read my spell books. The secrets that were held within them were great indeed. Once he learned these secrets, Zargon fled.

We can definitely make out “Rise of the Dread”, unfortunately the rest is obscured. The full title can be seen on the side of the box, but it is too small to make out.The heroes are just minding their own business, walking around a dungeon, all of a sudden, they open a door and encounter something they’ve never seen before! A Specter! Along with a host of other enemies that fit the apparent theme of this expansion.

Advanced HeroQuest was a revised and expanded version of the HeroQuest game released in 1989 by Games Workshop. The basic concept is the same: four heroes venture into a dungeon to fight monsters and gain treasure, but the rules are more detailed and complex. [ citation needed] The Barbarian immediately engages the Magus Guard and manages to get 2 hits on them. The Guardian Knight also engages the Magus Guard, but misses. The Elf decides to stay where she is to protect the Wizard, she casts Sleep on the Assassin closest to her. The Wizard, following the Elf’s instructions to stay put, doesn’t move. in 2020, Hasbro and Avalon Hill announced they would be reprinting the board game Heroquest. This return of the 1989 tabletop classic did have some bumps, including the Heroquest TTRPG being delisted, but it was released in December 2021 to a warm fan reception. Speaking of a travelling merchant, we have Strangers. It’s possible that one of these Stranger tokens could be used as a merchant for the Underground Market in a Hideout. Strangers are described as “people who are not clearly friend or foe…”, this could mean anything. We’ll have to wait and see how this is used in the quests. Mercenaries & Reputation The final Assassin stands, staring down the Barbarian and the Guardian Knight. The Barbarian lunges forward, but the blow glances off the Assassins blade. The Guardian Knight leaps forward, blade connecting, but not enough to fatally wound the Assassin. The Wizard, come out of his daze, a vengeful cry from his lips, unleashes a Genie at the Assassin. The Genie tears through its target, leaving nothing behind. When playing an older quest, Zargon can price potions as they are presented in that material or use these new costs if their Dread powers command it. Now if the box is the size of FH/MOTM it's still hard to say... we don't know what other "swag" might be in there (character sheets? dice? furniture? something we haven't seen before??) but besides tiles, the quest book, probably some entrance/exist doors with unique styling... we'll have the monsters. What should we expect?
