About this deal

I listened to the audiobook of this charming marriage of convenience story. Katherine has two choices--marry or be a caregiver of her brother's children. Her brother basically sells her off to Lord Hayworth, who's trying to save his estate with her dowry. These two had quite the journey from marriage of convenience to love. Kitty’s new life, as wife to a viscount in a strange estate, in a strange village, had not had a promising beginning. I really liked both of the main characters although they both made mistakes while getting to know each other at the beginning of the marriage. Katherine let the groom get a little too comfortable with her and Phineas misunderstood some things. Katherine's little brother, Samuel was delightful and I think he helped Phineas and Katherine. I was glad Samuel came to stay with them, as his older brother and his wife didn't treat Samuel as they treated their own children. And it was thanks to Samuel, that Phineas found out how the housekeeper treated Katherine. His Disinclined Bride by Jennie Goutet is a stand alone Regency romance in the Season of Change Series. The story begins when Kitty’s brother, a successful businessman, matches her with Phineas Stropford, Lord Hayworth, without telling her for his own gain and Lord Hayworth’s. The story follows Phineas and Kitty’s wedding and new life. We find out how they navigate an array of challenging relatives, neighbors, new friends, servants, and their relationship with each other. It is a delightful marriage of convenience story with a satisfying ending.

Jennie Goutet is a new to me author, and I am so glad I had the opportunity to read her new book His Disinclined Bride. It was everything a Regency romance story should be and more! I enjoyed the characters, the setting, and Kitty and Phineas’ love story. After reading His Disinclined Bride I will now search out Ms. Goutet’s other novels as I am now a fan. I would highly recommend His Disinclined Bride to all who love clean Regency romances. a b Houghton, Rianne (1 July 2021). "First trailer for Bridgerton and Luther stars' new thriller". Digital Spy . Retrieved 12 April 2022. Stratford Tunstall has just discovered his predecessor willed the estate’s unentailed land to Miss Daventry. Although cynical regarding love, the man recognizes a practical solution when he sees one. He and Miss Daventry must marry, and Stratford wastes no time in pressing his suit — with disastrous results. This is the first book of Jennie’s I have read and it will definitely not be the last. Jennie’s writing was beautifully done and I soaked up every word of this lovely book. The characters and development are written to perfection and, though the “marriage of convenience” trope is not necessarily my favorite, I found myself quite inclined to enjoy this book. (See what I did there? 😉) Book Genre: Clean Romance, Fiction, Historical, Historical Fiction, Historical Romance, Regency, Regency Romance, RomanceAnd I thought, no way a 13-year-old girl could write so brilliantly. It’s an incredible piece of art. For me, it was important for Anne Frank not to stay in the movie as a symbol, but as a real person, and I think she was a very complex person. She was brilliant, she was a genius writer, she was funny as hell, she was mean, she could see the weaknesses of the people around her and threw those arrows that will destroy them easily because she was so clever.”

For once, he has met a lady less inclined to marry than he is. How unfortunate that she is the only bride he will consider. Lord Haywood seems most interested in Kitty’s dowry but is pleasantly surprised with her beauty as she walks down the aisle. However, this is a marriage of convenience, not a love match. The well-written story describes the transition from being strangers to friends to devoted and affectionate marriage partners. She wants to be left alone with her family’s castle. He wants to show off the home he has just inherited. Neither of them can win. A Christmas house party with pudding, games, charades, riding, and carols turns out to be just the thing to remind Juliana of how much she loves Yorkshire. But when her nostalgia slips into love, will she be able to admit that Willelm knows the longings of her heart better than she knows her own? For both, what began as a friendly bet between two bored guests at a ball turned into an earnest desire to help their protégés find happiness. And if some deeper feelings should stir in George to win Alice’s heart, then he has no choice but to dampen them. After all, Lady Alice has sworn she will not marry, and George has applauded her decision. For him to try to weaken her resolve now would be…unsportsmanlike.

A new way of telling Anne Frank's story

There isn't much plot at all besides the main romance, which is unrealistic at best, but in terms of floofy escapist romance, it was pretty good ;) Phineas was a really sweet hero, Kitty was a charming heroine, and you couldn't help but root for them. Andreeva, Nellie (2022-05-12). " 'Bridgerton': Hannah Dodd To Play Francesca Bridgerton In Season 3 Recasting On Netflix Series". Deadline . Retrieved 2022-07-21. I was really excited to be asked to be apart of the tour for this lovely little book. It was perfectly paced from start to finish and I loved every minute. Eleanor Daventry has come into money, but she cannot access her inheritance without a husband. Steadfast and independent, she would rather become a schoolmistress than take a husband she does not love. I'm giving this a mighty generous 3 stars purely based on enjoyment, because I gobbled it up in a few days and could not put it down. I just HAD to get to the point where they finally admit their looooove for each other and finally spend the night together (the book is all clean though, no worries).

Philip Townsend is too busy trying to render his estate profitable to worry about managing its rundown house or finding a woman suited to the role of his wife. His beautiful and competent neighbor Honoria would be the logical choice, were it not for the enmity between their fathers that makes such a thing impossible. Phineas was a very real character. His actions totally made sense for the way he was brought up (which I loved--that the author didn't magically redeem him) but he did drive me crazy sometimes with his jealousy and inability to to say what he was feeling. Even though I understood. Additionally, as much as I enjoyed reading about his love for Kitty, it read pretty superficial for awhile. It didn't necessarily feel that way, because I actually felt that he cared more deeply for her than even he realized, but he seemed to fixate largely on her good looks. Still, his glimpses of humor and teasing were so sweet. At the start of their London Season, Philippa Clavering discovers her friend, Susan, is being pursued by the wrong gentleman and decides to turn Susan’s head to a worthier suitor. Not one to shrink from what she views as her duty and gift, Philippa sets in motion plans to bring about the happy ending her friend deserves. What she does not expect is to have Susan’s older brother watching—and criticizing—her every move. When Harry finds Anna unconscious on the road, and she awakens in his arms, his world shifts at her gaze. But before he can think that heaven has come through at last, he must convince Anna that her prolonged stay in Avebury is not fate’s way of toying with her, but rather opening her eyes to a new direction for her ambitions—and her heart.Sir Lucius Clavering is not married, but he may as well be, considering he is expected to escort his widowed mother to watering holes, round out the numbers at his married sister’s dinners, and come to the aid of his scapegrace younger siblings. It doesn’t help that single women and matchmaking mamas jostle each other for his face, fortune, and title so that he’s left without a moment’s peace.

Phineas Hayworth is such a kind, caring, loving, strong, respectful, and intelligent man. He truly cares about those around him, and does everything he can to make Kitty comfortable. Little does he expect that marrying a woman he has never met could possibly turn into something so magical. Despite growing up in Israel, where Anne’s story and her diary were mandatory and part of the school curriculum, Folman admits to having very little recollection of it. “I don’t remember reading it, but I know we did it. When I got the offer I read it again and I was stunned because my daughter was that age. If you enjoy Regency Romance novels, I highly recommend this book! I had such a difficult time putting it down, and basically read it in one sitting because I could not wait to see how everything worked out. Orphaned at a young age, Eleanor wants nothing more than to settle in a home of her own. Stratford, having met once with betrayal, desires a woman who will be true. When a complicated inheritance forces them together, they little expect this to be the answer to their innermost desires.

In the face of such an insulting proposal, Eleanor flees to London where she lands unwittingly in the home of Stratford’s closest friends. Now thrown together constantly, Eleanor can’t help admiring his masterful apologies, never mind how often he must deliver them. Stratford concedes that, against all his predictions, Eleanor has no shortage of determined suitors. With a few well-placed words in the right ear, Anna Tunstall can direct anyone to do her bidding, exactly the skill needed for one destined to be the wife of a man in politics. A summer visit to a friend’s country estate is the perfect distraction before the London Season begins and Anna can achieve her ambition of a perfect match.
