The Play tab hosts the various game modes including the Maiden Voyage tutorial, Adventure and Arena, all with intuitive instructions to aid setup for newer players. There are four different types of islands in the game. These are Resource, Merchant, Land Barrier, and “Normal” (which means they don’t do anything special other than take up space). Resource islands can be conquered and owned, but all other islands are considered neutral, either providing the player the needed resources of just getting in the way of their ship. This is the one with the white pips, but you can also tell because the “1” has the square frame storm symbol on it. The total of this 6-sided die determines how many moves you can make for the turn amongst your fleet. The Merchant Alliance honour their high-performing Ledger representatives with the Merchant Ambassador Cannon and Wheel.The total you rolled for your move is the amount of spaces you get to move for the turn. You can only move up and down, not diagonal, and only over the sea, not through islands or other ships. Your move is split up between all of your ships, you can give it all to one, you can split up accordingly, or you can use none at all. This movement doesn’t happen all at once, this is your total for the whole turn, that you can split up amongst the actions you are taking. For every mast a ship has, that ship gets +1 to movement for the turn. There are six commendations to be found in Sailor’s Grave, and they are unlike any Tall Tale commendations we have ever encountered! Adding a single Cannon to a ship will cost the player two Iron, one Rum, and one Gold Resource card Completing each Tier of levels within the Season will award a unique Title that shows your success for all to see! Unfortunately, there are a lot of pirate games on the market, which really waters down the market. Even worse, when an amazing game like Plunder enters into the market, sometimes it is over looked. Do not overlook this game if you have a family who likes to play games. Ideally, this is a great gateway game that you can use to help your kids, even those with short attention spans, learn lifelong lessons from gaming.

Purchasing the Plunder Pass will grant players access to Pirate Emporium items and additional Ancient Coins as Season Three Rewards. These cosmetic items are early-access items that will be released at a later date after the Season ends.

When a player has voted at an Emissary table, if the vote is still in progress when they leave the Outpost their vote is now removed. Trade and manage your resources (wood, iron, rum, gold) to build and upgrade your fleet using miniatures and pegs. Ships sail the open map via roll and move. Battle enemy ships and conquer islands via dice combat.
Killing a Megalodon should now award players with reputation when sailing as an Athena’s Fortune Emissary. New Commendations have been added to the Tall Tales Reputation tab, charting players’ progress as they uncover secrets following the world-changing events across the sea. New players are now also offered a simple way to ensure Sea of Thieves is suitable for all the family. Enabling Family Mode will disable voice and text communication with other crews you may meet in the open world. These settings can always be re-enabled later from the Settings Menu. Players can also faceoff with each other in teams. Players on a single team all work towards the same goal and can trade with each other as usual. Newly conquered islands allow the player to plant their flag upon its beach. If the player loses the fight, they remove one Life peg from their ship. If this is the ship’s last Life peg, it sinks and is removed from the game board. This will also result in the player’s opponent earning a Plunder Point if the island was contested (i.e., “owned by another player”).For the fun section of the Plunder A Pirate’s Life review, we award a middle of the road 5 out of 10. The gameplay all hinges on the roll you get from one 6-sided die and you do not have much to hedge that roll. If you get a 6, you will probably do pretty well, and if you get a 1, you probably will not. Once you get past this, everything is great and thematically it is a fun pirate experience but this brings it way down. Watching Sea of Thieves Partners on Twitch will reward players with new Gilded Phoenix Set and Obsidian Set items. So as attractive as the game is, I have no desire to venture out into these briny seas again. The game is too random, suffers from a runaway leader problem, and uses too many mechanics that just aren’t enjoyable.
All Plunder Point cards acquired by the player must be in view at all times during the game. Players do not take Plunder Point cards for ships and Flags. Again, a player flips the arrows for both spinners resulting in an alphanumeric value that corresponds with coordinates on the map. A player places the Storm box, so the coordinate is in the middle of the box itself. Players determine new coordinates if the Storm box placement results in it being located on a one-skull island on the map. Flags are used to show control of islands with ports. Players can earn plunder cards for sinking ships, burying gold, and as rewards on treasure cards. Plunder points are used to win the game.
