About this deal

Unlike our civilian brethren, military fitness instructors are tested across three rather than two general areas: The activities are: speed bounce, relay race, egg and spoon race, hurdles, tunnel ball, penalty shots, seated throw, corner spry, bean bag relay and a drinks station. Boy 1 drops the ball through the ‘hoop’ of the boy on his right, lets the ball bounce, catches it again and proceeds round the circle this way until he reaches his own place. He gives the ball to the boy on his right and makes a hoop himself. Boy 2,3,4….. continue in the same way until the time is up.

A final relay can be useful in gaining time for the chief scorer to calculate the results and decide the winner if a tie occurs. It is also useful as a final team building component. Summary All parents and spectators should stay in the spectator area of the playing fields to watch. There will be a great amount of activity going on therefore, we would be grateful if you do not cross the field and approach any pupils during the events. We appreciate and thank you for your support in this matter. P4-7 pupils will have an earlier lunch on Sports Day. (11.50am – 12.50pm) Where possible, the treble standard should be used as this caters for a broader spectrum of agility, and as such the scoring system is as follows: The team forms a circle, arms length apart. Boy 1 holds the tennis ball. The others, clasping their own hands together, hold out their arms in front of them to represent a hoop.

Combat Fitness Test (CFT) (aka Annual Fitness Test, AFT): a distance of eight miles over undulating terrain on the Aldershot training area carrying approximately 25kg (55lbs) in time of less than 1 hour 50 minutes. This test is conducted during the first week, usually on the Friday. Exercise also has developmental benefits for children and young people. As well as supporting physical development (strength, stability, mobility), movement can boost cognitive skills like planning, problem solving and bilateral integration – using the two sides of the body and brain together. Finally, implicit for our civilian brethren is the critical aspect of customer service and care. Although care (of trainees and avoidance of injury) is implicit for PTIs, both commanders and PTIs have a very varied range of interpretation for the implementation and delivery of ‘customer service’ in the Army. Think of the 80-10-10 rule; 80% are average to good, 10% are very good, and 10% have areas for improvement. 11.0 PTIs: The Funny Side Physical Training: balancing, heaving, rope climbing, abdominal curls, skipping, vaulting exercises, log exercises and medicine ball pass. The course was very much designed to be progressive in terms of both theoretical and practical application using the EDIP method (explanation, demonstration, imitation and practice). For example, trainees were taught the theory of warm-ups, given a practical demonstration of a warm-up (trainees were the guinea pigs), trainees would then imitate and finally practice.

Event number two: each competitor is allowed three throws at the target. Scoring, bull 3 points, inner 2 points and outer 1 point. Not entitled to wear Crossed Swords badge. May only be employed on the advice and under the direct supervision of an RAPTC instructor (may be reassessed and upgraded by an RAPTC Officer). In hindsight, it is clear how these courses reflected the changing attitudes of the PD branch and the impact of changes and trends in the wider civilian fitness community. The impact of collaboration with some of the country’s leading sports science universities was also evident through the development and implementation of updated testing protocols and subsequent course design changes. 8.1 Further Courses Military Swim Test (MST), usually on the Tuesday morning. This consists of jumping into the water, treading water for two minutes and swimming 100m, as well as getting out of the pool unaided. This is a straight pass or fail test. All you need is a ping pong ball and a cup . Once you’re ready, stand about 1 metre away and take turns to try throwing the ball into the cup. If the ball lands in the cup, you get a point, and the person who gets to 3 points first wins this event. This simple game will tell you who has the best motor skills – and who has played the most beer pong. The hoop is placed on the floor 2 metres from the start line. Person 1 stands in the hoop with the ball. People 2,3,4,5,6 line up behind the start line. Upon successful completion of the AAPTI course, instructors can attend a number of other courses, for example: If you grew up in a primary school here, these makeshift rubber band slingshots should be all too familiar. Relive those memories and take part in friendly fire with this game of rubber band archery .
