The A30 team are continuing with these archaeological investigations with the support from Cornwall Archaeological Unit and the hard-working volunteers. Another must-see in Padstow is the beautiful interior of the 13th century St. Petroc’s Church, which stands where a church has stood since 518 CE. The residue, known as stent, would normally have no use and be left in white spoil heaps, scarring the local landscape. Instead, the material from the Littlejohns Pit near St Austell is being processed into sustainable secondary sand and aggregate for construction use. For an activity that is slightly less strenuous, visit the Padstow Museum. This small museum showcases the history of the town. It has a collection of artifacts and exhibits that tell the story of Padstow and its people. We have taken on a T-Qual placement from Truro & Penwith College, who comes to the project one day a week on placement. The A390 will also be closed during the weekend from Chiverton to Langarth Park & Ride from 7pm Friday 16 June to 6am Monday 19 June.
