About this deal

I have mixed feelings about this review. If I’m being honest I hated the heroine. She irked my damn nerves and I wanted to get behind her character but I couldn’t. Don’t get me started on Henry. I did not like him at all. I started to relatively like them both towards the end. But really the only characters that I thought were fun and hot were Ronan and Conner. Wolf Bite? Nah. More like The Sexual Awakening of Abigail Mitchell. Henry Wolf is barely in the book, I think he was absent about 30 to 40% of it? Maybe more. So if you were expecting more on plot development and Henry Wolf, I suggest you move on. #spoilersabound #sorry

WOLF BAIT is one of those books that I'm still on the fence about, weeks after reading it. On the one hand, it had a hero I couldn't help but like....even when he was being an enormous ass. But it was the heroine and her complete 180 when it came to her values that has me wondering what I read. Like not even an epilogue or anything. It was still super good. This is really me just ranting because > I < am not done with Henry and Abbi yet.

Overall, I have been highly entertained by this incredibly predictable cookie-cutter story. But I'm not complaining because I'm loving it. Book 2 I struggled with because this book was pretty much a turn of events that I didn't quite see coming. It was definitely what I expected to happen when it comes to Abbi because of the relationship she had with Henry. It was all very new to her and there was a lot she needed to learn. I definitely didn't agree with her thought process when it came to her actions. So this was a book you just kind of take for what it is. Abbi grows up so much throughout this story, the sex, education, and even religion that comes out of this story that she has to overcome are so wonderful to read, at times I wish I had her strength. She is so heartbroken during this book but she finds the strength and friendships that she needs to come through them. And wh She definitely changes as a person and broadens her sexual horizons. If you had asked me at the start of book 1 if I was expecting multiple sex partners and throuples...I would have looked at you funny... BUT GUESS WHAT YOU GET????? Abbi is a virgin from an extremely religious family. Her faith and virginity were quite important to her and she’s lived a sheltered life making her very naïve to the world. At this point I was thinking: “Oh god, not this shit again.“

This bit’s spoilerish, so look away if that’s not your thing. Otherwise The fact that Abbi jumps to conclusions the way she does, essentially cheats on Henry by having sex with other men, really crossed a line for me. Then to find out that Henry never did betray her, and in fact stayed faithful, even if he was being a bit of a tit, just ruined the central romance for me. I started to lose steam a little bit this one, I just can't stand Abbi's mother and ex-boyfriend. They are extremely frustrating and just refused to move on and accept where Abbi was with her life. That factor definitely overpowered most of the book, to be honest. I just wanted Henry and Abbi to be as they try to figure out their relationship was a little bit of a long distance. It's a true struggle that many relationships face and I could completely connect to that. Also, it was so nice to see that Abbi’s mother has finally grown to accept Henry into their family, after much convincing from the reverend and the other community members. She now knows that Henry is actually a good guy, and not just using her daughter for his own benefits. You're not going to get anything "magical", "special", "new" or "unexpected" from this because that is exactly what it claims to be. But sometimes that is a GOOD thing and NOT a problem. I love their relationship, their connection, and their understanding of each other. I stopped reading this series after book 2. If you are into porn, like taudry, B-rated movie porn, with a lame plot, this is your series. If that is not your thing, stay away.

We all know that Henry’s relationship with his mother has been pretty much nonexistent. She left him, when he was still very young, and for that he will always resent her, understandably so. I can only imagine what that would feel like. But what’s probably worse than that, is seeing your mother after so many years, at your father’s funeral - which is exactly what happens to Henry here. Henry started opening up to Abbi, and showing some emotions about how he yearns for the affection that he did not receive from his mother. He also says that he’s sad that his father passed away, since he was the only family that Henry truly had left (considering Henry doesn’t get along with his brother, Scott). The WRITING in this needs work - and that is what frustrated me. I was not looking away because I was eating the metaphorical popcorn of the plot and drama as fast as I could down my mouth... but MY GOSH I now REVEL in my hatred of the word REVEL.....I liked the first book, loved aspects of the second book. It took 20 years and the Abbi/Michael scene to get to me to see that Ross and Rachel really were on a break! I was ready to be team Ronan/Connor in a huge way until Henry admitted what he should have always known to be true: that he is the mature, experienced one and should have been more cognizant of that. The third book did nothing but piss me off, Bernadette is a monster, and sorry, but no amount of "it comes from a place of love" will dismiss that. Also, Henry became even more unlikeable than he was in the second book, though he finally redeemed himself in the last. Henrik Wolf is the owner of the new hotel. As famous for being sexy as sin as he is for being a tyrant. He’s cold and closed off which makes his actions towards Abbi that much more confusing and appealing. I wanted to know more about Henry’s relationship with his family, and I would have enjoyed seeing more of that in this entry, instead of watching it play out over several books. Since this story is far from complete, I am going to say that the beginning is intriguing, and I’ll have to see if the rest of it lives up to the promise.

Books 1 and 2 cover a span of maybe two months, in the summer, in Alaska at Wolf Hotel (with the exception of the first chapter or so that takes place 3 months before - I didn't count that). She started working there as a 21-year old innocent, one-boyfriend-her-whole-life virgin, in June and by the end of July she had had sex with the billionaire owner, a masseuse, and had a three-some with two men on the grounds crew. Seriously.I went in blind. I didn’t even know the genre of the book (it’s contemporary romance), but I saw someone on social media make a post with like 25 books listed and rated each one. That person only gave out 3 five stars and this was one of the books. (Books like AOTAR and the cruel prince got 4 stars by this person so I assumed this book is going to amazing). It wasn’t. Despite the complaint about hard to connect with characters, I still very much enjoyed this story and the spice in it. I absolutely wish that there was an epilogue where we got to see them married with kids and living a fabulous life, but I guess it’s up to our imagination. MOST things kinda wrap up "nicely", some are left open but it's a HEA that's expected BY THE DAMN COVER! There were earthquakes, attempted murders, REAL murders, threesomes, photoshoots, flying around the world. Just a regular look into what your life would be like if you were in a relationship with a billionaire living a lavish life but also being a slight sexual deviant and like to watch...
