Hey, this is obviously for sbj lovers, on budget (sort of, Montale is French by all means, and is times more expensive when delivered across the ocean, I can guess). I think vanilla is the most appealing note in perfumery; probably the world's number one flavor and I'm no exception. I love vanilla! For those, I'd like to put forward another Guerlain creation, one that actually manages to use Guerlain's famous vanilla accord, but in a smaller dose: Shalimar Perfume Initial. It's powdery and woody with a slight whiff of vanilla; a composition in which you can really enjoy the entire development, even if you are not a vanilla lover. The vanilla note turns out delicious without being sweet, and over time it becomes a complementary note under a dusty cloud of powdery iris. I believe this is the least sweet edition of Shalimar’s family; easier to wear with still a significant sillage. Shalimar Parfum Intial is one of those fragrances where patchouli is in love with vanilla; both notes develop softly and in harmony without deviating into plastic earthiness. Parfume Intial is a 4th generation Shalimar, approaching L'Heure Bleue in the most elegant gesture Thierry Wasser could imagine! It gets muskier, woodier and cosmetically sweet with time, after which it turns to quiet and innocent with a subtle and faint trail of vanilla that you will enjoy even if you don't tend to love vanilla. The fragrance mist offers a fresh and clean yet sensual and woody scent that isn’t overpowering, regardless of the number of times you wear it. When Should You Wear It?

So, for me my dislike for vanilla was basically just in my head. I had liked vanilla without knowing it, when I wore Giorgio Armani Emporio Armani Lei, or Bogner Bogner Woman No.1. Once I realized that, with the help of the Vanilla lovers of Fragrantica.de, my rehabilitation began and I found some Vanilla fragrances, I have actually grown to love and I know my away around in the Vanilla territory, be it a Vanilla for Vanilla lovers or a Vanilla for phobics like former me. It features notes of apple blossom, chamomile, and musk to form a soothing aroma. 2. Amber Romance by Victoria’s Secret Gather Perfumes Shakti another all natural. Shakti is one of my favorite perfumes. Beautiful ylang, surrounded by her secret sourced vanilla (it is unlike any other vanilla I have smelled, her vanilla wherever she gets it is amazing) spices, blood orange, and cedar moss. Smoky yet still light. I wear this year-round, even in hot weather. She also made a floral called Ambrosia that has vanilla, jasmine, ylang, blood orange and it is just stunning. I wear it when I have migraines, it is that soothing. It was limited edition and is gone now but I am hoping she will make more come Valentine's Day. Serge Luten Un Bois Vanille is super woody, but not as woody as Derek Lam Something Wild, which is just too too woody for me. Pi by Givenchy: bittersweet vanilla.. slightly plastic(ish).. I used to love this in winter, so cozy.

SDV is the best, hands down, but unfortunately the longevity is just not there. Couvent if you can still find it is a dupe. The St. Barth's that's mentioned is delicious, just know it's a full-on foody vanilla, nothing subtle about, but I may actually prefer it to Tihota, though I don't wear either often, they're too cupcakey for me.

The most 'beloved' vanilla seems to be Tahitian (which is narcotically sweet and flowery) and the most brutal ones are Vanille Mexique and Givree d Antilles. Out of which the last is best adorn by me myself. The amazing scent comes in a beautiful bottle coated in tortilla-brown casing with “Vanilla Lace” written at the center. I've always love vanilla fragrances.. before the gourmand explosion was on trend I remember always get complimented for my sweet/foody/slightly androginous scents.. my favourites were and are..The sillage and longevity are both moderate/average, offering a good 4-5 hours of perceptible, vanilla joy that lingers on the skin even longer. This is a vanilla for those who love amber fragrances with vibrant vanilla nuances such as Commodity Gold, Tauerville Amber Flash, or Armani Prive Ambre Orient. Its sensual and seductive veil of warm vanilla and sultry musk not only delights your senses it also effortlessly keeps you refreshed on the go.
