About this deal

Cons: May seem a little pricey for a home studio, but worth every penny. Other than that, at this time I have none. Measurements that you are about to see were performed using the Klippel Near-field Scanner (NFS). This is a robotic measurement system that analyzes the speaker all around and is able (using advanced mathematics and dual scan) to subtract room reflections (so where I measure it doesn't matter). It also measures the speaker at close distance ("near-field") which sharply reduces the impact of room noise. Both of these factors enable testing in ordinary rooms yet results that can be more accurate than an anechoic chamber. In a nutshell, the measurements show the actual sound coming out of the speaker independent of the room. This architectural design anchors the cabinet's corners thus improving enclosure durability whilst also eliminated unwanted resonance. As a result, you get even purer sound. The Limited EditionYamaha HS7 Active Studio Monitor Matched Pair gives you two powered monitors that have been acoustically matched for precise performance. The Future Industry Standard

DAC Chips: Texas Instruments DAC11001B, Analog Devices 5781 R2R, Xilinx 7 FPGA, ESS 9218p, Cirrus Logic for Apple, AK4499EQ The NS10's are a trademark, but these new monitors (HS5/7/8) are more advanced, and better built. Overall, great quality of sound and design. Their clarity is way higher, and their sound is flatter. The speaker enclosure on the HS7is designed to eliminate unwanted resonance to ensure a more focused and accurate sound. The dense and durable MDF construction has a damped acoustic response and the rear speaker port further reduces unwanted noise. I bought these monitors for a home studio situation, that includes playing VST instruments through them, my guitars, recording, mixing, mastering etc. I wanted an all round good pair of monitor that won't overpower a regular sized room that wasn't mean as a studio. At a decent budget. The only way to explain the difference in listening from low budget studio monitors or HiFi speakers to this (mid budget) monitor, is listening to music under water, then taking your head out of the water, and then the music and everything gets defined and cristal clear. As a result, you can enjoy solid and nicely defined bottom end along with clear, accurate mids with extremely low distortion no matter the output level. High Performance Amplifier The HS7features a 6.5" ultra-responsive woofer that produces the lower and midrange frequencies with clarity and definition so you don't have to worry about flappy, distorted low-end. The 1" dome tweeter provides an extended usable frequency range and gives you a smooth top-end. The bi-amped design of the HS5 means there's a separate amp for both the woofer and the tweeter ensuring high-resolution sound. Design Portable Chain 1: CA Andromeda with Gold Plated OCC Silver wires + Gold Plated Silver Gold Alloy OCC Hybrid wires + OCC Silver wires -> AK SP2000 (Minimum Phase Apodizing) The HS7's are the best choice in the price range they're in, Yamaha is best known by their NS10's, which are present in many pro studios, and still being used to mix regularly.

The Yamaha HS7 active studio monitor sits between the compact HS8 and the heftier HS8 in terms of form factor, striking a solid balance between the two. This makes the HS7 monitor ideal for small to medium-sized studio spaces where you can appreciate the low-end extension. The HS7 is worth considering over the HS5 if you require extra onboard bass presence and is also a more affordable alternative to the HS8 if you’re after a larger monitor for your studio.

However, a producer friend of mine also has these Yamaha's in 10" format. Those speakers just blew me away in how much they can handle. They give a balanced sound output, combined with loudness and punchy bass. I might also have to replace my KRK's with the 10" Yamaha's now for my DJ sessions. DACs: Schiit Yggdrasil+ More Is Better, Schiit Bifrost 2 OG, Chord Mojo, FiiO BTR5, Apple Lightning Dongle, AK SP2000, iPod Touch 7th gen The HS Series features newly developed transducers that achieve astonishingly smooth response over a wide range of bandwidth. These transducers utilize an advanced magnetic field design that regulates the flow of magnetic response to provide seamless, natural sonic transitions. Since the Yamaha HS7 has separate dedicated amps for the tweeter and woofer this active studio monitor is able to give you consistent, high-resolution sound with incredibly flat response. Low Resonance Design and Noise Reduction Technology

Extremely dense MDF has been used to create the enclosure boasting dampened acoustic response and ensuring accurate audio reproduction even at the highest volumes. I needed a pair of well recommended monitors for my small home studio, recording guitar and vocals. The previous appraisals here on Thomann were pretty much all good, so I went along with all those that were happy with these speakers! I been after a pair of HS for a while for the home studio, and finally got the HS-7. Got the 6.5 inches version to improve on the low end response (details on this below).

Leaving no-stone unturned in the search for audio excellence, even the Yamaha HS7's cabinet has been specially designed to reduce resonance.
