The ideal drink for those looking to ease themselves into the world of whisky, perhaps not having been able to get on with straight-up single malts in the past, or those just looking for a different way to enjoy a dram after dinner, Scottish whisky liqueurs have been around longer than you might think, with “brose” – a mixture of whisky, honey, oatmeal and, if desired, cream – being produced for centuries.

The house is less than 5 minutes’ drive from the start of the walk to one of Skye’s most iconic sights, Neist Point Lighthouse. Standing at 62 feet in height, its impressive flashing white light is so bright (the equivalent of 480,000 candles) that it can be seen from as far as 24 miles away! It takes about half an hour to walk to it and great care must be taken around the cliffs. The views from the lighthouse are breathtaking, with whales and basking sharks to spot, and its westerly position makes it particularly magical at sunset.
