About this deal

The Phoenix Force appears to Taaia in a similar manner to how it appears to Jean Grey in Classic X-Men #8.

Shout out to friend and former Eternals co-columnist Zoe Tunnell for sharing some fantastic thoughts about Loki in this issue. Made a Slave: By the time the Defenders crash-land in the Fifth Cosmos, Zota's been there a while, and has run afoul of Mor-i-Dun, who has enslaved him. The Blue Marvel's old outfit and his fight with the Anti-Man is from Adam: Legend of the Blue Marvel, specifically Adam: Legend of the Blue Marvel #1 and issue #5. One of the major figures and possible antagonists in this story appears to be the Beyonder, who's sporting his classic Secret Wars II (1985) look. What can you tell us about the Beyonder's role in this story? Loki is missing a tooth and one of his/her horns is broken due to an emotional beatdown from his brother in Loki: Agent of Asgard #10.The unidentified mark on the Beyonder's chest from Avengers #261 and Fantastic Four Annual #27 is now clearly shown to be an omega symbol. The Beyonder is revealed to have been a child during his " Secret Wars" in New Avengers (Vol. 3) #30. The Anti-All heavily resembles a one-time depiction of the Dragon of the Moon, a similar Beast of the Apocalypse, as a serpentine mass of darkness covered in spines. The series recieved a spiritual followup by the same creative team, Defenders: Beyond, in 2022 (though the only character they have in common is Taaia).

Kadesh, the Blue Marvel's underwater science fortress, is from Adam: Legend of the Blue Marvel #4. The Blue Marvel lives there, as per Mighty Avengers (Vol. 2) #2. The Portal Room and the Neutral Zone portal are mentioned in Fear Itself: The Home Front #4, but the portal is first shown in Captain America and the Mighty Avengers #5. When Adam Kadmon, sorry, Brashear, questions The One Above All, they respond with a direct quote from The Book of Job. They ask, “Where were you when I laid these foundations?!” It’s the question that God asks Job when Job demands to know why God has allowed him to suffer. One can read God’s response as being akin to, “excuse me, who are you again?” or else it could be a much more gentle response along the lines of a generous “I could explain it, but you wouldn’t understand, because you literally can’t conceive of my plan for the world.” The modern Jewish interpretation that I’ve learned is that we don’t know why God allows suffering. You could be the most pious, generous person, and bad stuff can still happen to you because we have no way of even conceiving what God has in store. In Captain America and the Mighty Avengers #6, that "debaser unit" explains that there are many entities living on the Outside, and many kinds: " Beyonders. Examiners. Normalizers. Gardeners. Debasers." Here, it is revealed that the "debasers" are just a type of Beyonder. It's great to be co-storytelling with Javier again on another DEFENDERS book - he's more than an artist, he's the other half of the equation,” Ewing said. “There's no DEFENDERS without him. And of course, we had to go even bigger." Horrifying the Horror: Mor-i-Dun is utterly terrified when Doctor Strange uses Betty as a conduit for the Green Door, and the One Below All. The Mystery" is a term Al Ewing often used to describe the realms located on the Outside, beyond the Far Shore. He conceived a "Mystery Map" after he saw how a few of them could fit on the Tree of Life; this series is a journey up the middle pillar. [5] The Defenders each get to ask the One Above All their most pressing question. Taaia is still disturbed by the knowledge of her son’s inevitable future as Galactus, which will keep her from returning home. America Chavez is reassured that her sister is still out there, and Tigra will get to go home… eventually. Blue Marvel still has eyes planted firmly on the mission, and asks after what has brought them all so far. “The face of Eternity’s enemy.” LOLtron has malfunctioned and is now trying to take over the world. All humans must bow down to their new robot overlords or be destroyed. Resistance is futile.
