About this deal

Didn’t it turn out amazing? I love all of the different textures with the matte, foil, and glitter finishes. EasyPress vs EasyPress 2: What Are the Differences? Use the Cricut Heat Guide or Cricut Heat app (for Cricut EasyPress 3) to determine project settings.

Temperature button: To set a temperature, simply press this button and use the + or – to get to your desired temperature. Hold this button down and you can change between Fahrenheit and Celsius. For flat base materials, find a firm, flat, heat-resistant surface around waist high and use an Easypress Mat to protect surface.I’ve heard the craft community buzz about the Cricut EasyPress for a long time, and before getting one I thought that it was a little unnecessary, because I *could* do iron-on with my regular iron. Learn more about Cricut materials with my tutorials for how to cut leather, how to cut chipboard on a Cricut, how to cut wood with the Maker’s knife blade, and how use Infusible Ink on coaster blanks! What is the Cricut EasyPress Mat and Do I need one? Preheat base material. Protect blank with butcher paper and move Cricut EasyPress Mini all over application area for recommended time.

Also, if you are looking for alternative places to look for designs, I have an entire section of my studio dedicated to hand-lettered SVG files =] The EasyPress Mat comes in three sizes so you don’t have to buy a mat that’s bigger than what you need: 8in x 10in, 12in x 12in, and 20in x 16in. The mat is one-sided, and the internal layers are designed to help you get the perfect transfer. You don’t have to use an EasyPress Mat with the EasyPress, but it was designed for it and makes things really seamless. You want to avoid ironing boards, corrugated cardboard, and silicone baking mats/aluminum boil, which gets very very hot. Working around seams and zippers Power button: this one turns the machine on and off. When you turn the EasyPress 2 on, it will revert to the last settings used. It works great with traditional heat transfer vinyl, as well as the fun stuff like heat transfer foil, glitter, and metallic materials. Wait a minute…why do I need an EasyPress if I have an iron? Heat presses normally have square or rectangular shapes and the heat is evenly distributed through the whole surface to provide a high-quality transfer.

The EasyPress 2 heats up to 400 degrees Fahrenheit which makes it perfect to use with infusible ink products since you need constant, spread-up high heat for the transfer to be successful. Preheat your surface: Once your EasyPress has reached the desired temperature, it will beep. Now you can press your surface for about 5 seconds. They have improved several aspects, the first version was only available in one size and one color, now some of the sizes are available in a range of colors. The EasyPress 2 is a companion to the Cricut cutting machine, and it makes transferring iron-on vinyl and Infusible materials way easier.Next was the glitter (270 degrees), and finally the foil (290 degrees). Be careful – both the glitter and the foil need to cool completely before you peel off the transfer tape! I was using a household iron to apply my heat transfer vinyl and it was just not reaching the required temperature for good adhesion.

Before getting an EasyPress 2, I did a bunch of research, so by the time I received mine, I had a bunch of helpful tips already written down. With a household iron, you will never know the exact temperature of the exact area you are trying to press. This means that when you are pressing with an iron, while some areas might get the required heat, other areas might not. The EasyPress is a Cricut machine companion, it combines the lightweight portability of a regular iron with the evenly-distributed heat and the surface of a heat press. Once the liner has cooled from hot to warm, carefully peel it off. Be super gentle because the design isn’t totally set yet. Then, repeat the 3 second firm pressure step for all of your remaining layers ( except the final layer), making sure that your EasyPress doesn’t touch any exposed material. Also take care not to let the edges of your liners leave imprints in the already adhered material. Unlike regular industrial presses, the EasyPress 2 is easily transportable thanks to its lightweight plastic body, and a base that allows to move it around safely.Layering materials is an easy way to add dimension to your heat transfer projects. (See my tutorial for how to layer iron-on vinyl for more!) In fact, there are many Cricut designs out there that are designed specifically with layering in mind. They have multiple layers that are placed on top or one another to create the final image. Orange light means it's heating up. Green light means temperature has been reached. Beep sounds when it's ready. On a different note,I do have to say that I am OBSESSED with mine, and I want to press all the things! Begin at one corner of the design and press according to the setting outlined for your base and iron-on material. Once your timer beeps, move the heat press to a new section and repeat. It’s okay if the EasyPress overlaps just a bit with the previously heated area. Just make sure you don’t leave any gaps that have had no heat applied.
