The quad-core Core i3-9100F was hopeless in Battlefield V, pretty bad in Assassin's Creed: Odyssey, fairly useless in The Division 2, and weak in Shadow of the Tomb Raider. Of course, it is not without its share of cons. The RX 5600 XTdoesn’t support Ray tracing and DLSS. If you want those features, the RTX 2060 Super mentioned above is the best fit for you. The 1600 AF on the other hand is silky smooth with 1% lows of around 60 fps and an average frame rate of 77 fps, making the Ryzen processors 24% faster than the Core i3. All those caveats aside... the i3-9100F is a spectacular bargain that can do 95% of what its more expensive cousins do at half the price or less, for anything but an enthusiast workload. 4 threads is more than adequate for the typical user or gamer, as most typical applications and games are only lightly threaded. In both benchmarks and actual workloads, the 9100F performs nearly on-par with the i5-9400F, which is twice as expensive. The only real distinction between the chips in practice is that the 9400F is a 6 core processor; unless you routinely use heavily threaded applications, there's virtually no benefit to the i5 chips (until you reach the 9600KF, which is almost 3x the cost of the 9100F). We found that, in general, more cores do provide better performance in professional tools and when running multiple applications simultaneously.Compared to the older Core i3-8100, the i3-9100F offers around 10 to 15 percent higher performance. Therefore, the CPU is well suited for simple office tasks but less for high end gaming or demanding applications. Battlefield V is even more demanding that Assassin's Creed: Odyssey and here frame stuttering is a massive problem with the quad-core chip. There is a 137% performance disparity between the 1% low and average frame rate with the 9100F, while we only see a 38% disparity with the 1600 AF.
