About this deal

The palate is smooth, with well-balanced acidity, round and elegant tannins and a medium-long finish. Kaiken‘s own vineyards supply 70% of their production requirements and 30% is from vineyards that they control.

Los Chacayes Vineyard in the Tunuyán region of the Uco Valley, has 150 hectares planted with Malbec and Cabernet Sauvignon, and bush vine Petit Verdot and Cabernet Franc on sandy and skeletal soils at 1,250 metres, produces wines with great structure and colour intensity. To serve, arrange the leaves on a plate. Thinly slice the beef fillet and arrange it over the salad leaves.Agrelo is at an altitude of 950m and has alluvial soil thanks to the erosion of the Andes, producing ripe, good bodied reds. string(307) "In its native Bordeaux, Malbec is little more than a blending component. In Argentina, Australia and increasingly, South Africa, it offers bold, expressive, richly-flavoured reds that simply cry out for a juicy steak! Notes of cured meat, cocoa, scorched earth and cherry liqueur-like flavours lead the way."

Kaiken Winery is located in the district of Vistalba and relies on state-of-the-art technology. Kaiken Malbec Ultra – Tasting and Review

It was Aurelio Montes‘ spirit of adventure and curiosity that led him to Argentina. He was seduced by the people and culture, as well as Argentinean viticulture and winemaking, which he felt was open to new ideas. After fermenting for one month, the wine was then aged for 12 months in French oak barrels. Finally, it was lightly filtered prior to bottling. The Altamira Vineyard in the San Carlos region of the Uco Valley is planted at 1,200 metres with Malbec and Chardonnay on calcareous soils with sand, lime and stones and produces wines with a dark fruit profile and marked minerality.

I’ve also reviewed Kaiken Ultra Cabernet Sauvignon. That wine is 90% Cabernet Sauvignon and 10% Malbec. The territory of Mendoza can be divided into five large sub-regions, which give the varieties their particular characteristics: Valle de Uco, integrated by the departments of Tunuyán, Tupungato and San Carlos; Primera Zona, which includes the departments of Luján de Cuyo and Maipú; the Northern oasis (Lavalle and Las Heras), the East (San Martín, Rivadavia, Junín, Santa Rosa and La Paz) and the South (San Rafael, Malargüe and General Alvear), covering practically the entire provincial geography. Meaning ‘first’ in the Pehuenche dialect, ‘Mai’ is Kaiken’s top wine. Sourced from 100-year-old vines in Vistalba, this 100% Malbec is structured and powerful yet balanced. It is aged for 18 months in French oak barrels, which lends the wine a complexity and roundness that carries through to the finish. The wine is ready to be enjoyed now but has the intensity and structure to age for the next decade. The high degree of development achieved by viticulture, added to new research promoted by a generation of restless producers, has led to the identification of micro-regions with different terroirs, reflecting the diverse character of Argentine viticulture. It is specifically in Malbec where this quality is best appreciated. The 70 hectare Agrelo Vineyard in Luján de Cuyo, planted on deep silty loam soils at 950 metres with Malbec, Cabernet Sauvignon, Bonada, Cabernet Franc, Marselan, Ancellota, Semillon, and Sauvignon Blanc. It produces floral and fruity wines with smooth tannins. When the glass is tipped this wine really coats it up! Slow falling legs then form and glide down the sides of the glass. Aroma Kaikenes are wild geese which are native to Patagonia and they fly across the Andes between Chile and Argentina. Cover and grill for another 30 minutes. Shift the ribs around (but keep them bony side down) and spray once more with sherry. Cover and grill for 30 minutes longer, until the meat is tender. Replenish the coals as necessary.
