About this deal

His dual-sided torso has also had numerous previous incarnations, including being spotted in the 10264 Corner Garage, where another one of his clones works as a mechanic. Whilst building. The set you obviously see what goes into its construction and the hidden details you may not see or even find from just looking at it. You can see more photos and details on their review but the 163-piece set comes with an old-school taxi, a street section, and what looks like the Doughnut Thief, who you may recall from the 2020 Police Station Modular, who seems to have cleaned up his ways and has made a career change from illicit sugary treats/news publishing to transportation. From building the character, standing him at the Taxi rank, hailing a Cab, popping him inside and driving off, it’s great fun even for a thirty-something AFOL ( Adult Fan of LEGO) like me!

At first I also thought this looked really underwhelming, but on closer inspection it's actually a rather nice and clever build, with the exclusive printed parts making it highly desirable. It features a very simple signpost that resembles the colours of a traditional Taxi, yellow and orange, its a great addition to the base and gives it that extra little something. Alongside that is a green rubbish bin, inside you’ll find one of the relatively new ‘ poop‘ pieces, officially known as a Swirl, I can only guess that this particular bin is for Dog waste! And while the curbside scenery would take some modification to work into a Modular Building layout, the use of Medium Stone Grey curbstones and Dark Stone Grey paving stones seems like deliberate invitation for builders to make those modifications. The signal lamp/sign marking the taxi stop makes a great new type of street furniture to add to a layout, and uses common enough parts that it can be easily be duplicated to create additional stops for a larger layout. Either that or he’s using this as a front to deliver doughnuts to high-flying guests staying at the Boutique Hotel. Well, a passenger, anyway. There’s only room here for the driver and a single rider. There is, however, space in the trunk for some luggage. Too bad our driver has already claimed that spot for his donut stash. The set was provided for review by LEGO. All opinions expressed are those of the author. Box and Contents

As is usual for minifig-scale cars nowadays there are no doors, so access to the interior is by removing the roof. I think the interior is probably the weakest section of the model, with only enough space for one passenger, squeezed right behind the driver. There is ample luggage space though, housing a suitcase, another slice of pizza and a dark blue cap, adorned with the Avengers logo. The cap also appears in 76269 Avengers Tower and presumably belongs to the taxi driver, although he cannot really wear it with his double-sided head.

Regarding the 60312 police interceptor, my dad was a gearhead growing up in Detroit, and sometimes mentions that there was a car shop on Woodward Ave that could modify your car so even the cops couldn’t catch it. And then the cops took their cars to the same shop. And I think a big part of why LEGO was able to work side-by-side seating into those earlier vehicles in the Modular Buildings Collection is that they were vehicle types with no roof, no side windows, and either flat side walls or none at all! All these factors made it quite a bit easier for them to deal with the minifigure's awkward, unwieldy proportions.

As design standards have continued to change and evolve — such as with molded wheel arches and curved elements becoming more ubiquitous on LEGO vehicles — the practicality of those traditional door pieces has diminished further and further. One thing that we can be sure of is that the vehicle looks great parked up outside this year's modular building, 10297 Boutique Hotel, and if you've yet to buy it, now would be a great time to do so while the car is free. Thankfully after a swift message to LEGO support I received one in the post and I couldn’t be happier or more grateful. We aren't made of money so we can't be spending hundreds of dollars to get a little set like this 3. Thanks to the death of the Lego store calendar no one can plan anymore to get GWP.
