It’s particularly enticing if you want to upgrade your viewing experience but don’t feel the need to invest in a new TV (we can imagine it being partnered with long-serving plasma sets, which seemingly refuse to give up the ghost). The Manhattan T4 and T4-R, two exciting new Freeview boxes, will launch in the UK this year – and we have an exclusive first look at these successors to the popular T3 and T3-R Freeview devices.

Following (normally temporary) EDID failure during the HDMI handshake the T3’s Audio Output would change to Auto. This primarily affected Audio Receivers and Soundbars. When padding was set to Manual and a series recording was stopped during the start padding, if you tried to start the recording again it would fail. The T4 and T4-R will also support Channel List Management, a newer Freeview function that enables HD-swapping of channels.

The Manhattan T3 supports 4K (UltraHD) and HDR content – that’s one of its selling points, and probably pushed the price upwards a bit. So is it worth the extra money?
