Working into the centre circle, work 2 tr, ch 2. (3 tr, ch 2) three times. Join to the top of ch-3 with a ss. Turn. All the squares in the centre of the blanket (other than the lower edge and the right hand edge) are knit in the same way as square 4. My finished blanket had a total of 165 squares. If they run parallel, then the square is angled properly at 90-degrees. If they are not parallel, then the angle is off. My Mitred Square Blanket is 11 squares x 15 squares in size (165 squares). It weighs approximately 1 kilo. The Knitting Squirrel now has a Ravelry Group and I’d love you to come and join us. The more the merrier! I will not only show you the basic mitered square knitting pattern. I will also present you with a couple of alternative ways to knit them. That is great – congratulations on knitting your first four squares. You pretty much know how to continue. Once you’ve knit another couple they’ll become second nature! A set square is used in technical drawing, providing a straightedge at a right angle or another particular planar angle to a baseline. They are commonly made from clear plastic. The most common set squares are 45° squares, (one 90° corner and two 45° corners) and 60/30 triangles (a 90°, a 60° and a 30° corner). Another type of set square is an adjustable square, which features an edge that can be adjusted to any angle from 0° to 90°. [19] [20]I used two 3.25mm (US 3) 20cm (8″) long Clover Takumi bamboo double pointed needles. You need to have the double points. I prefer the bamboo needles as I find them easier on my hands when I’m doing a lot of knitting. There is a lot of knitting in a mitred square blanket. The other good thing about the bamboo needles is that they aren’t as slippery as a metal needle so the stitches don’t slip off, even when there are only a couple of stitches on the needle. This is so handy when the blanket is being put away after you’ve finished knitting on it.

Seeing all the options above, you can imagine the abundance of options available. However, there are some standard features you should look out for that can help you land on the exact right product for your particular needs.
