About this deal

The Xiaomi Mi1S features three-speed driving modes – Pedestrian, Drive (standard) and Sports – and boasts a sophisticated cruise control system. In Sport mode, we reached maximum speed after 6 seconds during our test. Keep in mind that using the scooter in Sport mode drains the battery substantially faster than driving in Drive mode. The braking system Rider safety is a crucial component built into the design of the Xiaomi 1S. The wheels and tyres, dual-braking system, lights and reflectors, driving control and display combine for a safer riding experience. Wheels and tyres But as far as aesthetics go, the Xiaomi 1S electric scooter is not a far cry from its predecessors despite being a 2020 release. I guess Xiaomi believes that you don’t fix what isn’t broken, but you improve on the things people are complaining about from the previous iterations. The same can be said for its weight and riding speed, only having minor upgrades and additions to consider it as the current and updated model.

That leaves the question: how does the Xiaomi 1S perform against other Xiaomi models when it comes to range? Here are the differences: Model The 4 Pro's enhanced riding experience is matched by its stylish design, with a minimalist handlebar design - featuring an upgraded integrated display - and a striking colour scheme for both fast and fashionable riding. The 250W motor gives the scooter a maximum speed of 25 km/h . Under ideal conditions, you have a range of 30 kilometres on a full battery. The front and rear of the scooter are equipped with lights, with the rear light also serving as a brake light. In the centre of the display is the function button. The following functions can be operated with it: Operation There’re enough changes to call it an update, but some fans wanting more may be disappointed. If you’ve already got a world-beating e-scooter and need to satisfy new European legislation, Xiaomi has decided not to reinvent the wheel. The 1S battery has the same capacity and power as the M365 battery, and the scooter retains the same top-speed of 25 km/h (15.5 mph) and range of 30 km (18 miles). The range is pretty accurate (at least to begin with) but the speed tends to hover around 14 mph. Xiaomi also claim the battery on the 1S has been improved so that it takes less time to charge (5 hours) and has a longer overall lifespan (partly by limiting its charge so that it reads 100% charged when it is, in fact, only at 93% of its real capacity. With puncture resistance and durability increased three-fold, the new and improved tyres make a safe ride. Dual-braking system A comfortable grip made from rubber and plastic ensures your hands are safe on the handlebars on both sides. Multi-functional dashboard With the UK considering a maximum electric scooter speed limit of 25km/h (15.5mph) on roads, there’s no need for anything faster. Three-speed driving modes

Please note distance may vary due to the speed, weather, weight and Road and we can’t gurantee the distance The Xiaomi Pro 2 is slightly bigger than the Xiaomi 1S; being a few centimetres longer and taller (when unfolded). Otherwise, the physical differences are negligable and purely aesthetic: as with the original Xiaomi Pro e-scooter, the Pro 2 has a red rim around the front wheel, while the reflectors are red on the on the Xiaomi 1S and yellow on the Xiaomi Pro 2 . The scooter's battery is located in the base and the frame itself is built from aluminium. It feels strong and the folding mechanism means it can be folded or unfolded in a few seconds (Xiaomi claims three seconds). This sturdiness and low cost (as you are not paying for carbon fibre) does mean it is reasonably heavy at 12.5 kg; but this is as light as mid-range scooters come and heaviness is fairly subjective: I am by no means strong and can carry this scooter up and down stairs without too much effort. One difference from its predecessor, apart from yellow reflectors on the EU/UK model, is that the external wires are neater in the 1S. They still have not figured out how to feed the wire to the handlebar internally (through the folding joint) but they have at least tried. Like the rest of the Xiaomi range, you’ll have access to three riding modes for ultimate versatility – choose from pedestrian, standard, and sports mode to suit your journey, and switch between them with a double tap of the power button. When it’s time to charge up, the magnetic charging port makes it easier than ever. You won’t need to waste time fiddling with the cable attach it – the magnetized port means it will clip in by itself, so you can plug in fast.Good to know: the rear mudguard is definitely not meant to put your foot on it, nor does it serve as a foot brake. If you do, there is a good chance that it will break off after a few times. Mi Home app Promoted at Xiaomi’s launch event with the strapline ‘ride the last mile’, the 1S is aimed at commuters and short trips; however, it’s capable of a lot more than that. Guarantee a riding distance up to 30km Forty 18650 li-ion cells offer altogether a high capacity of 275Wh. Smart battery management system (BMS). After a few practices, you can fold the scooter within seconds. In our opinion, folding the 1S is smoother than we experienced while reviewing the Xiaomi Scooter 3 . Once folded, you can lift the scooter with you by the handlebar tube. The handlebar and dashboard Unlike the Pure air 2, the Mi 1S isn’t completely waterproof and it’s not advised to use it in the rain, but the large pneumatic tyres ensure it can handle a much greater array of lumpy road surfaces. The smaller, solid wheels found on some rivals lead to a twitchy and slightly worrisome ride at speed, but these 8.5-inch numbers do a great job of improving stability.
