About this deal

Devoir trouver des détails et des indices correspondants au mot donné (si tu le connais), c’est ce que je préfère dans le jeu. Example: Mike is the Active Player. He wants to play with the word "nature". He places the card displaying a red rose to reflect that word. If the Conspirator is sitting directly to the left of the active player, it’s therefore first to act. They will have a very short period of time to choose their first card. When the word is finally revealed, they will also have a very short period of time to come up with an explanation for why the cards they played match the chosen word. This aspect can let the game down slightly. It can lead to the Conspirator being discovered fairly easily. That said, if you can pull it off as the Conspirator in that position, it does give you a feeling of satisfaction Randomly choose the first Active Player. That player receives the pen (which is the Active Player Marker) and takes one notebook for each other player in the game (for instance, in a 7-player game, the Active Player would take 6 notebooks). Example: Bill is a Detective. He can see that Mike wrote "nature" in his notebook, so he plays a card that displays the sea. That should be enough.

If you're a Detective, make sure to play solid Evidence cards to avoid being accused during the Voting Phase!

That player becomes the new Active Player and takes the notebooks. Make sure to cross out the previous word on all notebooks to avoid confusion!

Everyone chooses one of the 8 colors. They then take the corresponding magnifying glass marker and the “I” and “II” player board strip. Place the strip in front of each player, this will be where cards are placed. The active player is known as the “informer”. When it is a player’s turn, they look at their hand an come up with a clue (secretly, don’t say) that will correspond to two of the cards in their hand they will play. Each player takes the Player Marker of his choice and places a Voting Token of the matching color on it.When it comes to games where one player doesn’t know something, Detective Club feels a bit different. In many other games, you can ask, or draw, anything in the world. So not knowing the information makes it pretty difficult to hide that fact. But with Detective Club you have to play two of your six cards, so potentially you aren’t going to be able to make it obvious you do, or don’t, know the information. After secretly coming up with the clue, the “informer” writes that down on all of the “?” notebooks except for one. They then shuffle up the books and give one to every player. This means one person does not know the clue and nobody knows who that person is. The goal will be to expose that person. The game comes in a tin, which many people don’t like. I personally don’t mind tins. However, the artwork on the lid doesn’t really suggest the fun, party-game style of play that you get from the game. This may deter people. If anything the artwork and title would lead you to believe the game is more of a crime solving co-op. Detective Club” is once again opening its doors to new members. You are also invited, but first you must prove yourself as a real detective. Analyze all the evidence, listen to the witnesses and try to find out who is lying among your group. Only the most observant and the most cunning will be able to succeed and achieve victory. Welcome to to the club!

There are a handful of party games out there on the market that revolve around everyone, except one person, knowing something. And the game, generally, revolves around trying to deduce who the person without the information is. Fake Artist Goes to New York does this with a communal drawing of a picture. Spyfall uses a 20-Questions mechanism to suss out the spy. Today we are looking at Detective Club, which uses a similar setup but the clues are given with Dixit-style cards. Gameplay Overview: To shift focus of the game, you can switch the Discuss part of Step 4 "Discuss & Vote". In that case, start voting immediately after each player has played two cards. If there are 2 or more Tokens on the Conspirator's Player Marker, then the Conspirator and the Active Player do not score any VP.Detective Club is a fantastic secret submit and judge / communication party game. It reaches the same fun and excitement levels of similar party game Dixit, but has enough differences to justify owning and playing both. This game looks like it could have easily fallen in the shadows of some of the other leaders in the party board game field, but it has done a great job of setting itself apart and being one of the best at what it does. Read Our Detective Club Review Go to Top The Active Player writes the word on each notebook except one. Then, he shuffles all notebooks and randomly gives one notebook to each other player. One player will receive an empty notebook: he is the Conspirator. The other are Detectives. Detectives must try and identify the Conspirator. The Conspirator must team up with the Active Player to tiy and mislead Detectives. Note: Players must keep their notebook secret at all times! No one knows who is the Conspirator... except himself. Detective Club is a really fun deduction game, and is suitable for players at all gaming levels. The cards are beautiful, and have enough on them for a player to use a card for several different themes. The only downside is the difficulty the Conspirator may face, if positioned directly left of the active player.

The only way the active player will score points will be if the Conspirator successfully conceals their identity. This means that the active player will want to choose a word which will allow the Conspirator to turn a generic card into a justifiable card. For example, if the active player chooses the word ‘square’ and the Conspirator does not play a card with a square on it, then it will be difficult to justify the card, whereas if the chosen word is ‘fantasy’, then the Conspirator is able to use their imagination a bit more to justify their cards. Since Dixit's release, however, there have been several Dixit-esque board games published - including the beloved spooky co-op game Mysterium and the more recent Detective Club. Wheels highlights some of the best party board games on the market. Starting with the active player (“informant”) players play one card at a time that corresponds with that clue. If they do not have any good cards, they need to just do your best. If you are the one who doesn’t know the clue, you just need to do your best with what you see. This process goes around the circle twice so everyone will have played a total of two cards. Place them above the “I” and “II” symbols on your board respectively. The subjective nature of art and how we interpret it means that people aren't going to always agree on what an image represents. When you factor this very profound statement in alongside the fact that the illustrations featured on Detective Club's cards are extremely esoteric, it opens up a whole can of worms that players will very much enjoy shifting through. While the Active Player plays cards on the middle of the table, all other players play their cards in front of them. Then the active player will play one of their cards to the center of the table that they believe relates to their chosen word. Every player will go around the table doing the same. Everyone plays a second card and then the active player will announce out loud what the word was. Of course, that is old news to almost everyone. You’ll get a notebook with the chosen word in it… or not. Players keep their VP Tokens face down. Once the Scoring Phase is complete, a new round begins: the Active Player passes his marker to the player that sits on his left. Make sure than everyone agrees on the chosen topic. You can switch topic after a few rounds if you like, or try to play the whole game with the same topic! Ultimately, Detective Club is a fun experience. While comparing it to other games may not be entirely fair, I think there is probably only room for so many similar games in any person’s collection. It just feels a bit more relaxed. If you don’t like the stress of being put on the spot, that can certainly be a good thing. The discussion about why you chose the cards can be hilarious and is really where Detective Club shines.
