About this deal

The texture also makes the tablet feel and sound like a paper. It is one of those things which adds to your drawing experience.

Similarly, the pressure of the pen is well calibrated and you will not get weird pressure bumps and other pressure inconsistencies. The best thing about this tablet is the excellent ergonomics. Most notably, there's a new VESA mount that can be combined with its adjustable stand (or indeed any VESA-compatible arm or stand) to give you extra flexibility in positioning. Also of note is that I observed no noticeable lag time between tablet and computer screen when it was connected via USB. The Bluetooth connection also seemed quite good, though I did notice a little bit of latency when using the paintbrush tool for extended periods of time. The Intuos Pro comes with a USB-c type 6.5ft (2 m) long cable which plugs on the right side of the tablet. It comes with an L-shaped connector which keeps the cable away from the working area. The premium Pro Pen 2, supplied with the tablet, is one of the best styluses around (save of course for the recent Pro Pen 3 that comes with the new Cintiq Pro tablets), and it never needs charging. With pressure and tilt sensitivity, it gives you real drawing flexibility, and the level of “bite” on the stylus is just right.

Let’s get ready

The medium and large models come with a total of eight shortcut button which is divided into two groups of 4 button.

There are two types of pen nibs that come with Intuos Pro. The first one is the standard tip which is smoother and has less friction and makes less noise while drawing. The other type is the “Felt Nib”– it has more resistance and a slightly more grippy feel on the surface. Pen Stand After you are done you can import your files from the tablet to the Inkspace app which allows you to save your files in JPG, PNG, SVG and PSD formats. The Intuos Pro follows the classic design where you have all the shortcut buttons on the left and drawing area on the right. The display is only Full HD, not QHD or 4K as is increasingly standard on drawing tablets these days. Realistically, for the majority of users, this is going to be absolutely fine – more than enough pixels. However, it’s the same resolution as the smaller Wacom Cintiq 16, so if you don’t mind sacrificing a bit of drawing space in favour of a clearer image, that’s a compelling alternative. The new version utilizes the Wacom Pro Pen 2, which comes with a weight base (shown below), and is slimmer than version 1 – It also features two programmable buttons and 8192 pressure levels (up from 2048). Wireless Bluetooth connectivity is also new to the Wacom Intuos Pro. Design

It had been a number of years since I’d used a tablet for photo editing, and I can confirm that the learning curve was certainly there. But after a bit of practice with the pen and tablet I found the process of retouching scanned negatives in Adobe Photoshop to be more precise, faster and less taxing on my wrist than it would have been if I were using a mouse. Put another way, the difference between retouching with the Wacom pen vs. the mouse is like hand-writing a note with a fine tipped Sharpie vs a paint roller. The eraser is precise as well. I found it to be particularly helpful when creating multi-layer image compositions. In addition to that, you can also get additional texture sheets for the Medium and large models of the Intuos Pro which have more aggressive texture. Available sizes – Small, medium and large

Now all the tablets in the market come with some kind of surface texture but no one has been able to perfect the recipe. It is a very handy feature and really helps during making artwork. The touch ring has a toggle button at the center which toggles between various shortcuts. Connectivity – Wired and wireless The driver allows your tablet to communicate with your computer. It also helps the computer to understand the pressure and tilt data. It enables you to perform various shortcuts such as zoom, rotate, pan and scroll. You can also use the touch in other applications or use the tablet as a big touchpad. If you want the added features but not the size, a smaller option is available. With a 7.4in screen and weighing less than a pound, the Wacom Intuos Pro Small is wonderfully portable. Be aware, though, that unlike the medium and large versions of this model, you won’t get the extra pen color rings and texture sheet sample card.
