If you’re a fan of analogue photography, in particular the Lomo brand, you should be fairly pleased with this camera. Things get a little strange when we look at the lens. The LomoMod No.1 has a liquid-filled lens with a variable aperture. The Lomo'Instant Square Glass features a 95-mm (45-mm equivalent) glass lens that encourages creativity. Its old-school bellows design will be unfamiliar to most, but it folds flat to about one-third of its operational size, making it more convenient to tote. That budget camera will be more than enough for you to start creating images that will be recognized for their quality in the lomo scene.Let’s be honest, nobody is buying a Lomo camera for stunning image quality, but rather the fun and nostalgia which it invokes.

A ‘B’ (for bulb) switch means that you can snap long-exposure shots – ideal for light streaks at night.Occasionally, strange artefacts appear on the Instax film - I’m not entirely sure if this as a result of bending the film slightly, but again, this could be considered a “quirk” which some people like to see. Sample Images Pictures from the Lomo Instant Glass Magellan were incredibly sharp. Its size made it convenient to carry around, and it performs well in low-light; it did not even require a lighten mode to take some night shots in the yellow streetlamp of a park. Lomography sells several versions of the Lomo’Instant Automat, some of which include add-on lenses, such as a "Splitzer" gizmo that divides the frame into different sectors, and a lens for shooting extreme close-ups, up to a foot from your subject.

The protruding viewfinder is very much designed for right-handers and is a little awkward for lefties. The viewfinder protrudes out to the side of the camera, and is clearly designed for right-handed users. Lefties will have to squish their nose into the casing to get their eye correctly aligned with the viewfinder. The basic optics have rough guidelines, but you’ll often find more of the scene in your photo than it suggests. As we’re used to seeing from Lomo cameras, the results from the Instant Automat Glass can be described as “unpredictable”. Some users will find that charming, while others will crave more consistency.With its 38-millimeter wide-angle, multicoated f/4.5 glass lens, the Lomo'Instant Automat gives you sharper images, better low-light performance and a wider field of view than its competitors. The lens can also shoot at f/22. Exposure control is automatic, so it'll only stop down that far in very bright light. Instax film is rated at ISO 800, and the shutter can fire from 8 seconds through 1/250-second, or in a long-exposure manual Bulb mode up to 30 seconds. Multiple exposure support is also included, expanding creative options. Exposure Compensation is available, a big help for situations where the ambient light may not match the light cast on your subject. Here, Lomo has taken the Automat up a notch by offering a Glass lens. It means that the results are much sharper than the plastic equivalent offered in previous incarnations of the Automat. At times, this means that you can get very sharp results - with charming prints in the Instax format. At other times, such as when trying to focus closely, you may find that the results are a little more hit and miss.
