About this deal

For the best picture quality, a Raspberry Pi 4 is the perfect choice. That said, you’ll get good results from a Raspberry Pi Zero 2 W as well, and it’ll be easier to install. Whichever you choose, we recommend using the Raspberry Pi Lite (Legacy) OS. The project uses the raspivid tool, support for which is limited in the latest version of the OS. The Legacy ‘Buster’ image still has full compatibility. You can find it in Raspberry Pi Imager under ‘Raspberry Pi OS (Other)’. Set up Wi-Fi, and make sure everything is up-to-date with sudo apt -y update && sudo apt -y upgrade. 02. Install and configure your camera

For all these reasons, I was pleased to learn that Naturebytes, the wildlife camera people, are releasing their Wildlife Cam Case as a standalone product for the first time. It’ll also make it convenient to tinker with the V3 cameras on operating systems other than Raspberry Pi OS and certain Video4Linux-compatible software applications. 9. Lens Extension Cables It's best practice to place your Raspberry Pi into an enclosure. This will minimise hazards and accidents, and lots of cases just look cool! Once your stream is running, you can add it to Home Assistant so you keep an eye on our fish anywhere 09. Install the camera coverThe SilverStone Pi02 is a case for those that wish to use their Raspberry Pi 4 as a desktop computer or as a server. It provides great cooling and while it may not look fancy, it does have a robust, industrial look to it.

The Pibow Coupe doesn’t come with any cooling solution, but the CPU isn’t covered by anything so you can attach a heatsink, a fan HAT or Pimoroni’s own Fan Shim (our favorite of these choices), which just slides over the first 12 GPIO pins, but allows you to put a HAT on top of it. Coding the project is super simple, and to help you get started we've created a GitHub repository dedicated to this case. The GitHub repository takes you through setup, basic commands and full Python project examples showing the PIR module and camera working together. The MakerFocus Raspberry Pi Camera Module is a great choice for anyone looking to get the most out of their Raspberry Pi project. This camera module has been designed specifically for use with the Raspberry Pi and is one of the best options available. Whether you’re a beginner or an experienced hobbyist, this camera module offers plenty of features that will help you create amazing projects with your Raspberry Pi. The Raspberry Pi Camera Module 2 replaced the original Camera Module in April 2016. The v2 Camera Module has a Sony IMX219 8-megapixel sensor (compared to the 5-megapixel OmniVision OV5647 sensor of the original camera).Raspberry Pi 4 Official Case: This case has the correct Raspberry Pi colors and aesthetic, but it doesn’t offer much in the way of features. With its over on, there’s no access to the GPIO pins or camera and there’s no hole or mount for a fan either. The Raspberry Pi HQ Camera Case (above) is compatible with the existing High Quality Camera Module. (Image credit: Adafruit) This robust Naturebytes case will protect your electronics from the elements and is compatible with all Raspberry Pi models! Full kit also available!

It is by far the best case I have found for any purpose. Very easy to insert the board, puts zero strain on the connector or anything else, unlike many camera cases. Easy to mount and align because of the screw holes in the hinge (which you can reverse if needs be to help with cable alignment). Judicious use of silicone sealant as you put the two halves together and then carefully around the lens hole ought to do it? The case comes with the PIR module and wires included. The PIR module is neatly mounted to the front of the case and the three PIR wires connect directly to the Raspberry Pi GPIO pins (5V, GND and GPIO 17). Please remember PIR sensors can be temperamental (and can also be impacted by WiFi, heat and other interference) so will need some tweaking to reduce excessive false triggers. CompatibilityIf you are using a Raspberry Pi 4, you may realise that with a more powerful processor, it runs rather hot! We have a range of enclosures that will prevent thermal issues; we recommend the Little Bird Armour Case with Dual Cooling Fan! As of 04/03/21: Enlarged HDMI cut-outs to fully accommodate cables. Removed Raspberry Pi 3 compatibility There's the standard Raspberry Pi 4 camera case, but one that's particularly caught my eye in the past is the weatherproof NatureBytes Wildlife Camera Case. It has an infrared lens for detecting motion, making it a neat wildlife cam to set up in the garden – if you buy the other parts, including an SD card and flash drive. Either way, there's no real excuse to not finally start (and finish) the Raspberry Pi project I've been pondering –after I've finished my Sonos Album Art Display, of course.
