Queen Elizabeth II is the sixth Queen to have been crowned in Westminster Abbey in her own right. The first was Queen Mary I, who was crowned on 1 October, 1553.
The Homage will be given by the Archbishop of Canterbury, and The Prince of Wales. The People’s Homage will follow, an opportunity for those who wish to be given voice within the Service, and for those at home to have a chance to be an extension of the Westminster Abbey congregation, should they wish to take it, whether with a moment of quiet reflection, by saying “God save King Charles” at the end, or following the words of the liturgy.
