About this deal

Grub screws are usually used to retain parts such as gears, collets & collars to such as gear shafts, etc. and the hardened, high tensile steel type is recommended. Although grub screws are made with both Allen and Slotted type head styles, the Allen type is recommended due to the weakness of the slotted type.

Nylon tipped grub screws - These grub screws have a nylon tip on the end, which provides a softer, more cushioned grip. Nylon tipped grub screws are commonly used in applications where surface damage must be minimized, such as in delicate machinery or equipment. When choosing the thread, consider the density of the timber. It’s best to use fine threads for hard timber and coarse threads for soft timber. The ‘M’ here basically signifies metric units - an M8 x 12mm grub screw will be 8mm wide at the major (outer) diameter of the thread, and 12mm long. Similarly, an M5 x 150mm set screw will be 5mm in diameter across its threaded section, and 150mm long from head to end. Truss or Mushroom Head Phillips slotted or Combination Truss or Mushroom Head Phillips slotted or CombinationCoach screws: these are driven into materials using a spanner through a square or hexagonal head. They provide robust and heavy-duty fixing. Limited Strength - Grub screws may not be as strong as other types of fasteners, such as bolts or nuts. This can be a problem in applications where high levels of stress or pressure are present. However, the basic steps to removing a grub screw will be largely similar to those required for removing any other type of threaded fastener: Stainless steel: All DIN, GB Standard and part ASNI standard stainless steel Grub Screws, Example: ISO7380, DIN7981, DIN7982, DIN916, DIN913, DIN7985, DIN912

If it won’t budge and needs to be drilled out, start by taking an awl or centre punch and using it with a hammer to make a small indentation in the visible end of the grub screw - this will help reduce the risk of the drill bit from slipping or wandering while you drill through the metal

Consider what material the plasterboard will be attached to, as different screws are suitable for different materials. For example, there are drywall to heavy steel screws, drywall to light steel screws, and drywall to wood screws. There are knurled cup point, half dog point and the cone point types. These different point types are used with different application types. There are different materials used for the screws and the 316 is one of the common material for the A4 specification. The Stainless Steel Grub Screw Grade 316 is used in outdoor, indoor, marine, engine and automobile applications. Sometimes the screws has to rotate around the axis and the Stainless Steel Dog Point Grub Screws are useful for this type of applications. There are different sizes and surface finishes for these screws.

Set screws often do feature a head - very likely a hex fitting - but without a threadless section immediately below it (again, this is different to the length of unthreaded shank you’d typically find on a standard bolt). Because they often feature no protruding screw head in the traditional sense, true grub screws tend to be driven by means of a sunken internal recess at what is still generally referred to as the ‘head end’.Masonry screws are available in zinc, carbon steel, hardened steel, and high tensile steel. They have an anti-corrosive coating and are tarnish-resistant, making them suitable for outdoor use. They’re available in gauge sizes ranging from 3 to 10mm and lengths ranging from 16 to 200mm.
