About this deal

This beautiful tale of love, courage and compassion...captures the pain of estrangement in penetrating, haunting language... Loved and Missed is a complex, deeply moving novel about frailty and suffering. Despite all the sadness, hope remains

Despite, or maybe because of its unrelenting urban setting of flats in dubious areas, the writing of place has an intensely lyrical quality of genuine love for the unaccountable pieces of life. There is a sad humour of appreciating the challenging nature of teaching teenage girls, for the little acts of love that can transform a day, for the love of a child. At first I thought that this book would be a tough read, and at times it is challenging, but the love that Ruth has for Lily, and even the elusive Eleanor is so beautifully expressed that I was so pleased to have the opportunity to read and review this very special book. Expressing the feelings of loss in a public forum (whether it be on social media or elsewhere) of a loved one who has passed away can be a deeply personal and meaningful way to keep their legacy alive. There are countless ways to honor the memory of someone we've lost, from creating online memorials, to getting a tattoo in their honor. Some people choose to get tattoos featuring images or quotes that remind them of their loved ones, while others prefer wearing meaningful jewelry as a constant reminder of their presence. For some, hosting events in memory of a loved one is the best way to celebrate the person’s life and keep their memory alive. Whatever way you choose to express your remembrance of someone who has passed away, know that it's an important step towards healing. Quotes to remember a loved one And Mary Wollstonecraft, in her 1792 book A Vindication of the Rights of Woman, wrote, ‘It is far better to be often deceived than never to trust; to be disappointed in love, than never to love.’ (Thanks to Daedalus Rex in the comments below for drawing my attention to the Wollstonecraft.) If you’re giving a eulogy at a Jewish funeral, you could use this excerpt from a Jewish prayer to say, “You’ll always be remembered.” 13. “They say it takes a minute to find something special in a person, an hour to appreciate them, and a day to love them, but it takes an entire lifetime to forget them.”When it comes to Eleanor – a kind, bright child until she hit her teens – Boyt is able to compress years of drama into a single glance, capturing Eleanor’s vulnerability and withering contempt, and Ruth’s careful maternal longing. And now her daughter has weighed in. Jean could have done without that. I need more resilience, apparently. "You know what Dad's like." So I said, I think resilience as a word is morally bankrupt. It's what people require of you when they don't intend to treat you very well. She didn't like that. Always surprising—unexpected, particular, the thing you didn’t know you wanted, but needed more than anything. A tender study of unrequited maternal love redeemed ultimately by the quiet glory of not giving up.”—Tamsin Greig Words cannot express the sorrow and sadness we feel at the loss of your [ parent, spouse, etc], [ name]. Please accept our condolences and know that we are thinking of you.

This quote by Carrie Hamilton perfectly describes what it means to touch the lives of people around you, and to live on in people’s memories forever. 17. “Got a picture of you I carry in my heart; Close my eyes to see it when the world gets dark; Got a memory of you I carry in my soul; I wrap it close around me when the nights get cold.” To the memory of a man so beloved and special, one who made us happier than we thought we could ever be – our dad. Rest in heaven papa When someone we love passes away, it can be difficult to put into words how much they meant and how deeply they will be missed. However, finding ways to express that they are gone but never forgotten can provide comfort and solace during a time of grief. This article includes ideas for honoring your loved one whether that be through actions or through different iterations of common “forever missed, never forgotten” quotes. What does "gone but never forgotten" mean? Viewed this way, ‘’Tis better to have loved and lost / Than never to have loved at all’ may as well stand in as a two-line abstract for the poem as a whole: Tennyson does indeed emerge, at the end of his long examination of his own loss, a better man who can celebrate Hallam’s memory and the brief time he knew him before Hallam’s untimely death. You can use these quotes in whichever way you see fit – a eulogy, a message of sympathy, an engraving – whatever you choose they are perfect for showing how much you cared for and will remember a loved one.An angry, powerful book seething with love and outrage for a community too often stereotyped or ignored. You can use this simple and heartwarming quote as an opening or closing for your speech or eulogy. 11. “The best and most beautiful things in the world cannot be seen or even touched. They must be felt with the heart.” - Helen Keller Eleanor’s death—imagined, anticipated, feared—disquiets Loved and Missed from start to finish, particularly in Ruth’s memory of the night she discovers Eleanor in her bed, naked and barely breathing. After attempting to revive Eleanor herself, Ruth summons an ambulance, then watches paramedics resuscitate her daughter en route to the hospital: I was in the story, feeling everything. I cared about every character . . . She writes beautifully. It was a total pleasure' Philippa Perry, author of The Book You Wish Your Parents Had Read
