About this deal

One of the most notable things about the WORX WG743E.1 is the generous grass collection box which holds up to 45 litres. This WORX WG779E.2 review is not complete if we don’t mention its cutting diameter. The cutting diameter of this machine stands at 34 centimetres, making it ideal for lawns with medium size. That is why it is perfect for cutting narrow strips in your garden. Grass Box The WG779E.2 is equipped with one 34cm wheeled metal mower blade that gives them two very effective benefits… The mower arrives with the mulching plug attached. To use the bag, remove the mulching plug first for the mower to bag properly. The 4.0Ah also weighs more than the smaller, 2.0Ah so this might affect your decision if you are looking to powershare the battery with other Worx tools. While a heavier battery is not that noticeable in a mower, you might want to use the lighter 2.0Ah in things like cordless drills. However, the 4.0Ah is comparable in size and weight to the large batteries I have used on cordless drills from multiple brands and well worth the extra expense if you want the benefit or longer cutting times (a must for larger gardens).

What I really like about the WORX WG779E.2 is the addition of a removable safety key that disables the lawn mower to help prevent accidental starting. This is a nice feature not found on similar cordless mowers that gives peace of mind around children. The key has a cord that is attached to the handle so making it almost impossible to misplace. The excellent battery performance is a big contributor to the success of this model, even more so when you consider how much more affordable the WG779E.2 is compared to other battery operated models. If you’re looking for a cordless lawn mower that offers the ability to create stripes on the lawn then the WORX WG743E.1, unfortunately, won’t cut it. However, if this is the only downfall, we’re confident that it isn’t the end of the world. Do you like a striped lawn? Well the WORX does have a roller at the rear that gives that lovely striped look to your lawn. The roller also has suspension allowing it to adapt better to the contours of your lawn. This is another advantage over the Flymo 300 – if you like striped lawns that is! When we test mowers we like to try all of the features. I have tested the full range of cutting heights, and used it both with and without the mulching plug. I have tested on both wet and dry grass, and used it for frequent trimming versus that first mow of spring when the lawn is a little unruly.Want your garden to look like a freshly cut football field? A rear roller produces a striped effect – gently flattening the grass for a well-manicured result. Cordless means poor battery life, right? Worx have built up an impressive selection of tools that can be powered by their 20V batteries. Most tools take just one 20V battery – we are talking their strimmer, leaf blower, handheld vacuum, drills and even a pressure washer – but the mowers use two for optimum run time.

Besides, you can replace the blade after serving you properly, and the installation process of a new blade is as easy as ABC. Electric mowers tend to be very easy to use and the Worx WG779E is no different, with its simple two-button start. There is a 'key' you have to place and press before pressing the lever for operation. Families will appreciate this safety feature and it makes it near impossible to start the mower unintentionally. Also the power system is completely electric so it produces zero emissions and works extremely quietly. Which is quieter? Well there’s not much between them but I would say that the WORX is slightly quieter due to the “Mute technology” that WORX claim makes their mower barely audible from 10 metres. The chargers will also run diagnostics on the battery and this is handy if for some reason the mower stops working. You can put the battery in the charger and a green light means it is charging (flashing) or fully charged (steady). A red light indicates an issue such as the battery overheating or being defective. If defective, the charger will attempt to repair the battery and continue to charge. Failing that, the Worx tech team are happy to help troubleshoot by phone. What features and settings does the Worx 40V Cordless Lawn Mower have?

The rotary blades are made from steel which is an extremely durable metal so you know that, even if you run into an unexpected obstacle, you’re not running the risk of causing any significant damage. Once you’re fully charged and ready to go, the WORX WG743E.1 will cut up to 500m². Features In Detail Blades It’s no secret that a lot of lawn mowers are bulky and difficult to handle but this one is something of a dream especially when you take into consideration the lightweight design which makes moving it around nothing short of a delight. But is this a good option for your average gardener? Well, yes, in short, it is. Not only does it give you a great grass capacity which means that you’re not emptying the box every few minutes, but it also has many other features that make this practically perfect. Furthermore, the addition of the carry handle means that moving the mower from one end of the garden to the other is effortless.

In comparison, the Flymo Mighti-Mo 300 takes the same 2 hours to charge as the WG779E.2 but the the WORX will last longer with the ability to cut a lawn up to 350 m². This is surprising as the Flymo Mighti-Mo 300 weighs 3 kg less than the WG779E.2. For instance, if you buy this mower and then decide you need a hedge trimmer, you can buy a compatible WORX tool without the battery to save some cash. If you buy this tool with a battery, you can use it to further increase the runtime on your mower. Cutting Width The cutting diameter of the mower may seem a little on the small size with only a 34cm mowing capability. Now, compared to its counterparts with widths of up to 43cm, this might be a potential disadvantage; however it could also be beneficial if it’s to be used in smaller areas and lawns with narrow strips.I was able to keep the mower, meaning I have now been using it regularly for nearly three years. This allowed me to not just get a view on it out of the box, but also over time, seeing how durable its parts are and how the battery fares. I really struggled with this mower to find any downsides. The features are great and all seem to work well for a mower at this price point. The build quality cannot be faulted and it performs as it should. You can easily change the cutting height from two centimetres up to seven centimetres, using a handle by the front wheels. My lawn was a little overgrown before the first use, so to avoid battling with long grass, I set the mower to it's highest length to trim it ahead of trying a lower grade. This was unnecessary based on use since – the mower makes light work of even dense couch grass and weeds that have been left to run wild.
