About this deal

Daisies in the genus Arctotis are tender perennials and may need to be taken indoors in cooler weather. These daisies usually grow in clumps and can grow to between 12” and 24” tall (30 – 60 cm) and have a spread of 12” (30 cm). Here are a few outstanding Arctotis daisy cultivars: Shasta daisy flowers are known for their all-white petals and golden yellow disk floret centers. The plants grow up to about 3 to 4 ft in height and spread up to 1 to 2 ft. The blooms typically reach 2 to 3 inches but can be up to 6 inches when fully matured (7). Flowering occurs in spring or early summer to early fall. Tall zinnias grow, as you would expect, much taller than other types of zinnias. They can reach six feet tall, branching lightly with one flower at the end of each stalk.

Due to their showy display of starry flowers, Paris daisies are grown for their ornamental value. The flowers can be double or semi-double in varying colors, depending on the variety. Available colors for these daisy-like flowers are yellow, rust, and gold with a dark brown center. Each flower measures about 5 to 9 inches in diameter and blooms throughout the summer. In various cultures daisies are associated with childhood, childbirth, motherhood and play. They are given to congratulate new mothers and, when formed into daisy chains, will make the simplest and prettiest flower crowns. And of course you can pull off the petals one by one to find out whether or not your love is requited: “He loves me, he loves me not.” The daisy family is spread across the entire globe, from north of the Arctic Circle all the way down to the tropics and Australia. The beginnings of the Asteraceae family are poorly understood. The plants began to emerge at least 100 million years ago when the continents were much closer together than today.

Botanists, on the contrary, sometimes refer to plants exclusively within the Erigeron genus as daisies. This is just one genus within the Asteraceae family.

Cut 30-gauge or 32-gauge white florist wire into lengths of 6cm. Keep them in a container, so you have them to hand.Usually grown as an annual here in the UK, this long-flowering plant can be a great choice for gardens that do not have as much space for planting, as these bright blooms can also work well as a stand-alone plant in a very small area. The genus name Tanacetum originated from the Greek word athanatos, which means “immortal” or “long-lasting” and pertains to the plant’s flowers. The species name coccineum, on the other hand, originated from the Latin word coccineus, which means “scarlet” as a reference to the flower color of some painted daisy species. Purple coneflower is a perennial plant that grows a robust root system. The plants can get up to six feet tall in wet conditions. They bear single flowers on the end of long stalks. Pollinators such as bees and butterflies are attracted to these open-structured flowers where plenty of nectar is available to them,” shares Roy Nicol, a Master Horticulturist.
