About this deal

The brand also walked away with a Gold medal for their Takamaka Dark Spiced rum. Both are bottled at 38% ABV. The latter was lauded for its “incredible smell and flavour” which was described as “complex and interesting with a lovely floral element that is quite balanced with its sweetness. Rich with lots of delicious jammy notes to get into.” The perfect base for a Spritz now that Spring is in full swing. By definition, non-alcoholic refers to any drink with less than 0.5% alcohol by volume (or ABV). Simply put, the alcohol can't build up in your blood as your body processes it nearly as fast as you drink it. Take a pint of 0.5% beer, for example, which sits at about 0.28 units of alcohol, and has roughly the same ABV as a very ripe banana. Yep.

To complete the Summer of Spritz campaign, the brand has launched its Everleaf Spritzes in 250ml RTD cans to meet consumer needs for different on-the-go occasions. Lees noted: “A very diverse category, good to see natural flavours and very good to see balance achieved.” Hoppy and citrusy” notes on the nose secured a Master medal for Aperitivø Classicø. Smith said: “There was a nice bittersweet interplay. Good intensity, and with soda it’s Americano‐esque.”The winner will be announced at the show on Tuesday 5 July and will receive an Everleaf Spritz kit full of Everleaf goodies to create summer Spritzes. Two Silver medals were also awarded in this flight, with one going to Merser Small Rum, and a second to Vegvisir. Founded by conservation biologist and bartender Paul Mathew in 2019, the Everleaf portfolio consists of three expressions, each of which is anchored to different parts of the natural world: Forest, Marine and Mountain. The judges also awarded 12 Gold medals in this heat. Four Pillars Bloody Bandwagon was one of the Gold winners, enjoyed for its “sweet, red‐berry” nose, with a “good level of dryness and complexity on the palate – even when mixed with tonic water”. In the Non‐Alcoholic Liqueur (less than 0.5% ABV) flight, Silk Cream Liq.eur with Maca Concept from Creamy Creation (B2B) received a Gold medal. Kiely’s panel noted the “vanilla aroma, custard‐like”, and found the palate to be “well‐textured, indulgently creamy, and very good”. High-quality options are growing for lower-alcohol dark ‘spirits’

Ten Silver medals completed the flight, including medals for Glory Mornin’ Super Vivid, Lyre’s Agave Blanco Spirit, and Siegfried Wonderleaf. Gold‐winning Ceder’s Wild was found to be “complex, with ginger and woody spice”. Smith said: “It mixes well and has good potential with soda, tonic, ginger ale, Coke.” Drinkers are switching out full-strength spirits for lower-ABV alternatives Runners-up in the Everleaf comp were Brett Oliver Yates from Manchester’s Speak in Code and Becca MacDonald from Bramble Bar in Edinburgh. Yates’ drink, Meadowsweet, was made with Everleaf Forest, maple Verjus and a birch honey tonic, while McDonald’s Val Gardena combined Everleaf Mountain, nettle and redcurrant cordial, lemon balm and soda. Lauded by one of our judges for its “fruity nose with berries, a little bit of sweetness, and good texture”, this gin was the first spirit to be awarded a Master medal in the day of tasting. Smith was just as excited about this round. He noted: “Some superb products that really encapsulates their alcoholic counterparts, balance of sweetness and sourness.”

In the Lower‐Alcohol (26% to 30% ABV) round, meanwhile, Beefeater Botanics Lemon and and Ginger walked away with an impressive Gold medal. A large flight of Non‐Alcoholic White ‘Spirit’ (less than 0.5% ABV) delivered a pair of Master medallists. To launch the Summer of Spritz campaign, the brand invited bartenders from across the UK to create a low-and-no Everleaf Spritz serve that captured the feeling of entering one of the three Everleaf biomes: Forest, Mountain or Marine. Despite its hefty ABV, this sea-turtle-saving distillery’s Navy Strength expression was praised for its “bright and tropical palate, with pineapple, papaya”, and was subsequently presented with a Gold medal. This Jamaican rum presented the natural sweetness of molasses, and the higher alcohol level offers a pleasantly smooth tingle rather an aggressive punch; like stepping off a plane in the Caribbean to a warm, inviting breeze.

Made using botanicals sourced from the English gardens of the famous Berkshire-based Highclere estate, it would seem like the iconic castle is now rightly becoming known for more than just the setting for BBC dramas. Uresti said: “There were some amazing products in this flight, and we saw the category not involving too much sugar or acids, but finding a way to balance both.” Sentia claims its drinks will make you relaxed and sociable – designed to stimulate your Gaba receptors in the same way as your first drink – but without the hangover.

We’re excited to see what else is to come from this young distillery, which sits at the foot of the famous Aber Falls waterfall that acts as the gateway of the beautiful Snowdonia national park. What we do know is they will continue to do Wales very proud. The third group consisted of: Rosie Lees, co‐founder and director of Nineteen94; Sara Jane Eichler, founder of Negroni Club UK; and Matt Chambers, spirits writer and cofounder of the Whisky for Everyone blog, who chaired.

Non-alcoholic apéritif brand Everleaf has launched its Summer of Spritz campaign to reinforce the brand’s positioning as ‘the alcohol-free spritz of choice’. Everleaf is the official non-alcoholic sponsor of Pub In The Park The campaign features influencer partnerships, the launch of its first ready-to-drink (RTD) range, as well as a nationwide Spritz competition to be replicated at Imbibe Live in London on 4-5 July. British non-alcoholic apéritif brand Everleaf has made its debut in the US. The Everleaf expressions are designed to represent three areas of the natural world In keeping with the names, each are inspired by places, and mountain is labelled as vibrant and aromatic, forest as complex and bittersweet, while marine is said to be crisp and refreshing. We also found handy mixing instructions on the reverse, outlining measurement ratios with tonic, fruit slices and ice. Our tester thought this was a particularly nice touch. But since the rise of the Aperol Spritz around the world in recent years, both bartenders and brands have been pushing the boundaries of the Spritz, meaning there’s no shortage of options nowadays. It offers a simple yet effective blueprint for creating twists on the classic, and for showcasing various brands too, not only aperitif-style drinks but flavoured spirits and more. This is particularly prevalent during the warmer months – Spritzes are synonymous with the summer, after all.The competition ran from 1 March to 30 April, and received 43 entries. It was Rebecca Bird from The Pig on the Beach in Dorset who created the winning drink, A Little Vitamin Sea, which earned her the title of Everleaf Spritz Master, and a trip to Iceland for two.
