Find out where it all began for Pip in this prequel to the best-selling A Good Girl’s Guide to Murder, Good Girl, Bad Blood and As Good As Dead! Hurray! It was so much fun to read an epilogue to A Good Girl’s Guide to Murder and spend some quality Agatha Christie-sque meets Clue style murder mystery time with our longtime brainy detective friend Pip!

Success!

i loved the side characters within this book. they made the game fun and the funny scenes between some of the characters made the book better for me. i’m not exactly the biggest fan of pip yet, but i do hope that will change once i read the series. not to mention pip missed the point of the game, which was to have fun, and it felt as though she didn’t want to interact with any of them despite being their friend. she was quiet pretty much the entire game but i liked how the banter between her friends remained. Since this is just a pretend murder, the stakes are low. It feels more cozy than suspenseful, but the book does a nice job of injecting some dark atmosphere into the mix, so it's still quite riveting. In fact, I had trouble putting it down and breezed through the whole thing in about two hours. Have you ever wondered why the young Pippa Fitz-Amobi chose the Andi bell murder case for her final year Senior Capstone project? We know you started writing from a young age, what would your advice be to anyone who would like to start writing? Pippa Fitz-Amobi is not in the mood for her friend’s murder mystery party. Especially one that involves 1920’s fancy dress and pretending that their town, Little Kilton, is an island called Joy. But when the game begins, Pip finds herself drawn into the make-believe world of intrigue, deception and murder.

Side note: I also listened to the audiobook and that was great too!! 🎧💖 Would recommend that format- it was a really fun story to just pop on when I also wanted to do something else at the same time 🥰🥰 Good Girl, Bad Blood was shortlisted for the YA Book Prize in 2021. [6] As Good As Dead (2021) [ edit ]I was aiming for a thriller that is almost defined by its limitations in time and space, and I decided to set myself the challenge of writing a book that was set in just eight hours,” she said. “The story unfolds in the same amount of time it takes to read the book—a real-time effect, if you will. I also wanted the entire story to be set in a single, confined setting. It was quite a claustrophobic, uncomfortable story to write, and I hope it reads that way too. The tension and the stakes are dialed up to 100 here.” I could see that being thrilling for elementary to middle schoolers who don’t want to be too scared, but given all the drinking and swearing from a bunch of kids who can’t even drive yet, I am not completely sure who the audience for this particular book is even supposed to be targeted towards.

She decides that the only way to do this is to put on a podcast and talk about it. Pippa’s able to make the true crime podcast with Ravi’s assistance, and it’s out just a short time before going viral. Now Pippa has not only something to say, but more followers than ever.

I loved Pip’s detailed approach to see things looking through impeccably clever perspective. I loved her Poirot style theatrical revelation to unfold the mystery at the end ( it was one girl show!) There was also a singular mention of Ravi and honestly? I screamed. I LOVE HIM SM 😩😩 Just that mention made me sooo giddy.

As the investigation progresses, Pip discovers that the stalker is a dangerous serial killer who has been active for years, targeting bright young women like herself. The killer seems to be one step ahead at all times, leaving Pip to feel like she's always being watched and that there's no escape. The stakes are higher than ever, and she realises that this time, she's not just trying to solve a case - she's trying to save herself from becoming the killer's next victim. It will involve a huuuuuuge breakfast and then going on a muddy dog walk (I just got new wellies so the muddier the better). Followed by more playing with the puppy, and then lying on the best place on the sofa and playing PlayStation or Nintendo Switch, or binge-watching a show on Netflix, saying ‘just one more’ when we’ve already said that three times. And in a perfect weekend after the pandemic, I cannot wait for drinks outside in a sunny pub garden and to be able to see friends and family again.

Reading this novella reminds me just how much I loved the original series. Pip is such a smart and spunky heroine, and it's thoroughly entertaining to follow along as she tries to figure out the killer. The way the clues are laid out and the setting of a remote island with a dysfunctional, wealthy family exude so much Agatha Christie vibes. Their plates were empty all apart from Pip’s because there had been too much thinking to do to concentrate on eating.” Following the events of Good Girl, Bad Blood, Pip has been left psychologically traumatised and unable to sleep at night. Her life already at an all-time low, things take a turn for the worse when she becomes the target of a relentless, anonymous stalker. The stalker sends her constant messages, asking her the same question " Who will look for you when you're the one that disappears?" At first, Pip tries to brush off the threats, hoping it is just an internet troll, but as the messages become more frequent and the stalker's presence looms closer and closer to her home, she begins to realise that the danger is real, imminent, and inescapable. Despite her desperate pleas, the police refuse to take her seriously, leaving Pip to face the stalker alone. The Best Books of 2020". Barnes & Noble. Archived from the original on 2020-11-05 .
