About this deal

or otherwise the focus ring is always ignored in AF. Canon should have it set this way by default, but they didn't. No big deal now that I figured it out. If you made a series of shots in Continuous advance mode, you'll see a new "Erase scene including image" as well as the usual "Erase" option when you press the 🗑 trash can (delete) button. The display underlines whatever the camera is controlling automatically, and has no underline for what you've set manually. Simple! With a stabilized lens that menu option simply disappears. That's good because instead you use the lens' own IS switch to turn both the lens' optical stabilizer and the camera's sensor-shift stabilization ON or OFF at once. when done, or 15.67 Wh next morning 13 hours later, so let's say it takes 15 Wh to charge a dead battery.

The R6 II has options to correct for falloff (Peripheral Illumination Correction), Distortion and a Digital Lens Optimizer which corrects for a suite of other aberrations. Shoot more photos and video per charge with up to 2130 mAh of capacity – that’s 14 per cent more than the LP-E6N battery

New AF priority modes of Railway, Airplane and Horse. So? I shot these all just fine in the 1990s with my Nikon F100's AF-C mode, no special settings needed.

ISO 50 is a "pull" ISO, and throws much more light into the shadows and thus gives them the most detail. I enable eye detection at MENU > AF1> Eye detection > Enable. The reason not to enable this feature is I presume everything will work faster with it off, in which case it simply uses face detection which works fine by itself.

If you want to change something, turn the top rear dial to select what you want to change (you'll see the orange dial icon move), then turn the top front dial to change that quantity. The finder and rear LCD show an orange wheel to the left of what's selected for adjustment. Once you set one item, you can set other things by turning the top rear dial to select and set them. This suggests that at low battery levels or low power, the newer LP-E6N battery is able to provide more current than the older one. As seen at normal image sizes below, the R6II pretty much makes the same images from ISO 50 (L) to ISO 51,200. Redwood Motel Sign, Bridgeport, California, 5:04 P.M., 13 October 2023. LP-E6NH

The R6 Mark II is the world's best practical high-speed mirrorless camera. For full-time sports pros the R3 has no problems with rolling shutter distortion that you can get in the R6II, but the R3 costs twice as much to fix a subtlety most people wouldn't notice for action shots. I don't see any difference in action shots, and this has no effect with things that hold still. Almost all mirrorless cameras have rolling shutters, I don't worry about it. Even if the price was the same, I'd rather carry this lightweight R6II.

Hint: On Mac, you can see HEIFs in the Mac's Preview program, and convert HEIF to JPG by opening the HEIF in Preview, then select File > Export > Format > JPEG and have at it. The Mac OS reads HEIF, the native format inside the iPhone, but there's no guarantee anything but the latest software from others will read it. I use PhotoShop CS6 from 2012 every day today and it can't read HEIF. LP-E6NH Battery (included). LC-E6 Battery Charger (included but not needed if you charge via USB-C as I do). Shooting and fiddling I get about 350-800 shots per charge, which is plenty. If I shot only long continuous sequences I'm sure I'd get thousands of shots per charge.

These are set as one of the Drive Modes. I prefer to set them by pressing the [Q] button and setting the Drive Mode near the bottom left, and you can set this elsewhere. Canon says it should work with any of the new included LP‑E6NH, the LP‑E6N or even the ancient LP‑E6 batteries, although I don't know if it will charge in-camera with Canon's LP‑E6N or LP‑E6; I haven't tried. You have to use a USB-C source; a USB-A to USB-C cord won't work. I prefer to use any USB C charger that meets the PD ("Power Delivery") standard. Color rendition is how pictures look in the real world. Real-world color rendition has nothing to do with color accuracy measured in a lab. Color rendition is dependant on how a maker programs all the color matrices, curves, and look-up tables to generate color from the data read from the sensor, and varies widely between makers once you set a camera away from its defaults. I never shoot at defaults. Try this new Fv ("Function Value") exposure mode right between the AUTO and P settings on the top MODE dial. I love it!
