About this deal

This circular walk starts in the little village of Penmaen and descends to Penmaen Burrows where you will find the remains of a Neolithic burial chamber and a medieval church. You then head west to Nicholaston Burrows, passing the Nicholaston Pill stream and enjoying great views over Oxwich Bay. The first section runs from Penlle'r Castell to Gowerton, passing the Lliw Reservoirs, before crossing the River Lliw a Gorseinon. Parliamentary Constituencies are the areas used to elect Members of Parliament (MPs) to the UK Parliament in London, and Members of the Senedd (MS) to the Senedd (Welsh Parliament) in Cardiff. At the last General Election, there were 650 UK constituencies, 40 of which are in Wales. Pwlldu is a secluded bay. Very pebbly, picturesque and romantic. You can walk there from Bishopston or Southgate.The Rhossili Bay Walk will take you along the beautiful beach before climbing to the high point of the Gower on Rhossili Down. The tidal island just offshore is Worm’s Head, one of the most fascinating Welsh islands, which looks like a basking dragon. The tidal island of Burry Holms at the northern end has great views down to Worms Head Rhossili in one direction, and around the corner towards north-west Gower in the other. Look out for wildlife including Canadian geese on the water.

Stay on dry land, and you will be missing out! It gets some of the most awesome waves in Britain, and sandy Llangennith has been popular amongst surfers for decades. Rhossili Bay has also been enjoying some limelight on the world stage too. It has been voted into the top ten of beaches in Britain for the last eight years and is currently the 11th best beach in Europe (TripAdvisor, Travellers’ Choice Awards). Getting there: On foot from Port Eynon, Rhossili or Pitton, where there is a small car park and footpath sign. The latter is the shortest route, around 2 km (1,25 miles). Getting there: by road on the main road across Gower, the A4118. Some 117 and 118 buses run to Port Eynon.

History

Four beaches have Blue Flag beach and Seaside (2006) awards for their high standards: Bracelet Bay, Caswell Bay, Langland Bay and Port Eynon Bay. [12] [13] Five other beaches have been given the Green Coast Award 2005 for "natural, unspoiled environment": Rhossili Bay, Mewslade Bay, Tor Bay, Pwll Du Bay, and Limeslade Bay.
