About this deal

This card also works quite nicely with our Hellkite friend’s Artifact Offering ability, giving it a massive discount. The Hellkite itself costs so much in the first place because it’s just really mean, hitting for ten in the air by itself and making all combat math just miserable for defending players who aren’t you.

Non-foil retro or schematic artifacts: Each Collector Booster contains 1 retro artifact and 1 schematic artifact, one of which will be rare or mythic rare. In their wildcard slots, approximately 24% of The Brothers' War Set Boosters contain an extra retro or schematic artifact as well.) Serialized Cards Each The Brothers' War Jumpstart Booster will come with two rare or mythic rare cards: a rare that's themed for the color, and another rare from the main set that is randomly selected from a pool within the theme's color pie. (We'll show you these cards in a dedicated The Brothers' War Jumpstart article soon.) We also have some very nice new non-creature artifacts. Take a look at these two: Wondrous Crucible | Smelting Vat Mishra is a 5/4 human artificer for five mana that makes a token copy of a noncreature artifact you control every turn, except it's a 4/4 creature with haste named Mishra's Warform you have to sacrifice at end of turn. This is useful to get more mileage out of value artifacts and it doesn't hurt to run a decent sized creature you were going to lose anyway into your opponent's board. The ability had some interesting applications and makes some previously underwhelming cards worth playing, but at five mana I find myself wanting just a little more from this commander.Mishra. Eminent one is a mana cheaper, and has mirrored stats compared to Urza. Mishra is a 5/4, while Urza is a 4/5. Sadly, Mishra doesn’t have a built-in cost reduction. Constructed in a way as to explore the artifact theme in an elegant way, this precon uses the synergies between artifacts and Mishra, Eminent One as a value engine. There is another interesting ability from this set that utilizes delayed triggers to balance cards. That ability is unearth, and it exiles the creature at the end of the turn. With Obeka-style effects, though, you can keep your unearthed creatures (or artifacts) forever. Here is a list of cards that have unearth: Urza and Mishra have built enormous war machines for their struggles, and you can see all sorts of these constructs on the mech basic lands. There are ten mech lands, two for each basic land type:

There’s a significant difference in power levels at first glance between the two commanders for this set. Mishra, Eminent One has no cost reductions, no lord ability, and only has a single ability. This commander lets you copy one of your noncreature artifacts and make it into a 4/4 creature with haste. This is a relatively mild ability by itself, but it can be complemented well with several cards. Mishra, Eminent Oneis the face commanderand is certainly one of the more unique commanders they've printed in a while: this commander is all about noncreature artifacts that have powerful enter the battlefield and/or leave the battlefield triggers that you can double up value from. The precon lets you copy Ichor Wellspring to draw 2 more cards, for example, but with upgrades we can do far nastier things, such as taking infinite turns with Gonti's Aether Heart. Mishra may have lost The Brother's War, but he certainly wins in terms of who the stronger precon brother is when fully upgraded. There are 63 retro artifacts: 18 uncommons, 30 rares, and 15 mythic rares. Each Set and Draft Booster contains a retro artifact . Collector Boosters contain retro artifacts as well—you can read below for the full product details. Schematic Artifacts The third effect is truly quite powerful. At the beginning of your end step, you get a Construct token, which is as big as the number of your artifact creatures. One half of the cataclysmic bothers war - Mishra, Eminent One and his forces will be emerging from The Brothers War to wreak havoc on the battlefields of Dominaria - until he rips The Mightstone from his brothers cold dead hands.Serialized cards can only be found in Collector Boosters. Serialized cards are always in English but can be opened in Collector Boosters of any language. They are mechanically identical to their non-serialized counterparts. TRANSFORMERS Mishra + Chromatic Orrery + Aggravated Assault = infinite combats (might be too expensive for this though) If you are truly getting cards at random, it’s still great value. But if you have a way to control what’s in your graveyard at all, you can make it wildly overpowered. If you do end up building these tribes (for whatever reason) there are plenty of artificers and constructs in the new Brothers’ War set. Here are some of the interesting artificers: Move to combat and trigger Mishra’s ability. Use this to create a copy of your Cursed Mirror-esque artifact, which will enter as a copy of Bloodthirster.

The Brothers' War contains 101 commons, 80 uncommons, 63 rares, and 23 mythic rares. Three of those rares and three of those mythic rares are double-faced meld cards. The Brothers' War also contains 10 basic lands and 10 full-art mech basic lands. Retro Artifacts The ratios looks great aside: the card draw is high but I was being pretty generous on what I counted and basically all of it is incremental draw. There's some really tantalizing inclusions here, such as Spine of Ish Sah which looks amazing when paired with Smelting Vat, or the new Blast-Furnace Hellkite which looks fun. There's also some other cards that fit the theme and get the job done but are overcosted, such as Hellkite Igniter (nostalgic but we can do better).

New Models

He may have canonically been overtaken by Phyrexia and lost the war, but that doesn’t mean he can’t win a few games of Commander. New Cards Not all vehicles are better for this. Some vehicles care about the creatures that crew them. If Mishra makes a creature copy of the vehicle, then these abilities don’t do anything. They might as well be vanilla creatures, which are usually not good enough for commander. Another card we have that likes all those high-mana value artifacts is Glint Raker. Coming down as an early threat, its power scales with whatever non-creature artifacts you can get out. And it then rewards you by finding more artifacts whenever it hits, which is the real powerhouse ability of the card. Wildcards of any rarity, including an opportunity to open The Brothers' War Commander cards, Jumpstart Booster rares, Transformers cards, or retro artifacts and retro schematics All of these things together make for a really powerful Commander. On top of that, it’s a really cool build around, especially if you lean hard on the affinity ability. There wasn’t a great commander for this theme in Esper colors so far. If you were looking for a Myr tribal commander, Urza will do great.
