The hard capsules are swallowed with sufficient liquid (preferably a glass of drinking water [200 ml]). When you take 2 or more medicines at the same time, the effects of 1 medicine can be altered by the other. This is known as an interaction. The supply of fluids and salts (electrolytes) should be adjusted according to the intensity of the diarrhea, the age and the characteristics of the patient (e.g. accompanying illnesses). Adults take 1 hard capsule 4 times a day or 2 hard capsules 2 times a day (equivalent to 800 mg / day).

There are certain types of medicine that can increase the enzymes in your body. This is known as being "enzyme-inducing". Antibiotics ( Neomycin, Nystatin, Natamycin, Streptomycin, Polymyxin B, Paromomycin, Amphotericin B, Kanamycin, Vancomycin, Colistin, Rifaximin) If diarrhoea occurs as a side effect of a medicine, it could affect absorption of the combined pill or progestogen-only pill. An example of this is the weight loss drug orlistat.
corticosteroids acting locally ( Prednisolone, Hydrocortisone, Prednisone, Betamethasone, Tixocortol, Budesonide, Beclometasone) This can happen with, for example, drugs used to reduce levels of bile acid, such as cholestyramine.
