About this deal

PAG oils were one of the first synthetic lubricants to be developed and commercialized. They were created under mandate from the U.S. Navy in response to hydraulic fluid fires on ships resulting from ordnance strikes during World War II. In 1942, and for the next 30 years, the Navy began to exclusively use PAG-based water glycol hydraulic fluids that were fire-resistant and could operate over a wide temperature range. Later, PAG oils began to see extensive use as textile lubricants and as quenchants in metal heat treating. Chemical stability: Pag oil is chemically stable, which means it does not break down or degrade easily when exposed to heat, moisture, or other contaminants. This ensures long-lasting performance and reliability. PAG oil is often used in automotive air conditioning systems because of its high lubricity and stability at high temperatures. It is also non-toxic and has a low environmental impact, making it a good choice for use in automotive applications.

General Motors recommends GM lubricants only (PAG-PSD1 #19260643 for 2013/14 Cadillac XTS, and PAG-ND12 #19299051 for 2013 Cadillac ATS) with R1234yf A/C systems. Universal compressor oils should NOT be used in R-1234yf applications. Another distinguishing factor is their compatibility with different materials; while pag oil can be detrimental to certain types of seals and hoses, poe oil is generally compatible with most materials used in refrigeration systems.

It is not recommended to mix Pag and Poe oil in the same HVAC system. Mixing different oils can lead to reduced lubrication effectiveness and potential damage to the compressor and other system components. How do I determine which oil my HVAC system needs? Evaporator, condenser, and accumulator all need about 1 ounce of oil per component to work efficiently; hoses also contain small amounts so be sure not to let your usage go over this amount, or else you may have leaking problems! The recommended total maximum capacity is 5 fluid ounces – 4 if new parts are replacing old ones like a replaced fan motor (3). Always pay attention when adding fluids because too much will cause overheating which could lead directly into costly repairs down the line such as vandalism caused by collateral damage from firefighting efforts.” A/C compressor oil capacity

Pag oil is ideal for systems with a high-temperature differential, as it has excellent thermal stability. Heat and moisture resistance: Automotive air conditioning systems operate in various environmental conditions, including high temperatures and moisture-rich environments. It’s important to choose an oil that can withstand these conditions without compromising its performance. The analysis suggests that there are in fact conditions where the mineral oil out-performs the PAO/PAG synthetics. Note in particular the performance level comparison for temperatures below 80°C. Pag oil is hygroscopic and tends to absorb moisture, while poe oil is hydrophobic and resists water absorption. Viscosity and lubricity are crucial factors to consider when choosing the right oil for your hvac system. Both pag oil and poe oil exhibit unique characteristics in this regard:

If something goes wrong with this process, however… It’s always better to practice first fixing any leaks before adding more fluids into what was already leaking because letting them out could cause damage FJC 2484 PAG Oil – 8 fl. oz. What is PAG oil? For the optimum performance, it is crucial to use just the right amount of oil too – a process known as oil balancing. Too little and the compressor will be starved of lubrication, creating friction and a build-up of heat. This will accelerate wear To determine how much Pag oil to add, you first need to know the original compressor’s oil capacity. You can find this information in your equipment manual or on the old compressor if you save it.
