About this deal

Something bitter and snobbish that only someone like a sommelier would love and average people pretend to like because an expert says that it is tasteful or elegant or whatever. I really like this. This is definitely a western take on oud. I haven’t smelled Leather Oud and it’s been too long since I smelled Oud Ispahan to draw any comparisons. When I first smelled this immediately thought of a few Tom Ford fragrances. Imagine a much drier version of Tom Ford Ombré Leather mixed with Oud Wood and that will give you a relatively clear picture of how this smells. Here’s a breakdown of the notes I can smell: To my nose there is no close comparison to the 2 other fragrances - Oud rosewood has much better projection and silage and is of a much higher quality blend. Oud Rosewood is a big hit for me, I'd even go as far as saying it's probably one the best MCD releases to date, so much so that I bought 250ml to sit alongside my Oud Ispahan and Leather Oud. This is a simple amber perfume with powder, dusty pink rose and maybe a smidge of white musk. It's warm and cozy and I would put Rosewood in the same family of fragrances as Burberry Woman and not any tea fragrance. I don't get any tea or bergamot at all.

I'll agree that this one is reminiscent of Ellen Tracy's Bronze, but in my case, that is a happy thing. For me rosewood is the more portable (and better) Oud Satin Mood. The great comment from Eyris before me also compares these 2 fragrances. i can see this might become a go to oud fragrance for a lot of people in the community as its not very challenging and smells pleasant to people yet smells 'Niche' and unique. On my skin this is an absolute monster. It will not fade or disappear until i wash it off with lots of soap. I have this, Leather Oud (LO) and Purple Oud (PO) and i think this might actually be the "dirtiest" of the three - even more so than LO which is famous for being very funky. This one is VERY animalic and indolic after the initial fruity notes has disappeared. Where LO starts our funky but then settles in to something a bit more crowd pleasing this one keeps going strong.

I own quite a few Banana Republic fragrances as I find them very pleasing and inexpensive. They're not the most unique scents, but they do offer a variety of wearable, signature-worthy fragrances for the modern woman. This is something special. It's sweet ambery woods. It smells like no other fragrance I've ever smelled and again, it is wonderful. I absolutely love it. It's woody but not too woody, it's sweet but not too sweet. The benzoin just radiated off of my skin, supported but the dry rosewood and sweet vanilla. Sexy, sensual, sweet.

But Rosewood didn't let go of me, I couldn't stop thinking about that fine fragrance. It is not mega unique but I have never met anything comparable.

Desert Rosewood is a dry, warm spicy scent. I don't get a rich balsamic vibe to it, more just a dry spice. I get the cardamom, rosewood and patchouli in particular. It reminds me a little of Aesop's Marrakech Intense in that regard. They are not the same fragrance, but they both have that spiciness that smells as if you are sniffing spices from a spice drawer. There is minimal sweetness to this scent despite the benzoin, vanilla and mandarin notes. These 3 notes do give a tad bit more of a roundness to the scent instead of it being just straight wood and spices.

the raspberry and quince jam are there to provide just some sweetness and tartness. they are not dominant at all. I loved the smell of Bronze, but was unable to pull it off because of the tartness of the lemonade accord. I do envy those who can make tart citruses work. It seem to be more of a colder weather scent, but I wonder if it would work in a warmer weather, specially in the night time.
