About this deal

Bring the patch kit that came with your inflatable pad when you bought it. It weighs next to nothing, it will prolong the life of your inflatable, and someday it will save you from a crappy night’s sleep on a partially deflated pad.

Premium dual-density Axiotomic foam offers a supple layer for comfort and a resilient layer for support. Also, while I generally like the pad’s nested valve design, it makes it all too easy to accidentally let all the air out when I only meant to open the intake valve to add a few more puffs of air. TLDR Our testers did find the pad to be comfortable, though, and warm to 22 degrees Fahrenheit on one of our Wasatch Mountains overnighters in Utah. If you’re looking to save money but still want a high-performance pad, this could be a great option for you.for a regular length and width in a mummy style, or the closest possible option How We Tested the Best Sleeping Pads Now that the results are in, I hope you find it easier to choose a sleeping pad for your travel style 🙂 The Xtherm does a terrific job of retaining heat. Pretty much all of the mainstream gear testers have showered the Xtherm with rewards for the duration of it’s life. If you’re new to exploring and camping outdoors, you might be worried about how cozy your sleeping bag is going to be. It’s important to remember here that a good sleeping bag with a camping pad can create a level of warmth, insulation, and comfort that simply wouldn’t be possible with a sleeping bag alone. That said, I think that sleeping close to the ground is a welcome change from feeling precariously perched on a skinny marshmallow.

That said, having a double sleeping pad makes sense in a variety of situations. For car camping, festival use, or an awesome mattress substitute for your adventure camper van – the Exped Mega Mat Duo 10 is a great choice for couples. Dimensions (in.): 72″ x 21.5″ x 2″ (Reg.) / 78″ x 25″ x 2″ (Large) / 66″ x 21.5″ x 2″ (Women’s Reg.) In each of these situations, this is far better than nothing, but it’s still a far cry from being comfortable and warm. We don’t recommend this pad for colder excursions when thermal protection from the ground is needed. But if you’re the type of person who really likes to put in those long days and are content to sleep anywhere your feet will deposit you, look at this pad.I can’t recommend bleach. It’ll work in a pinch though, and I actually carried some on the CDT after my Sawyer Micro failed until I could find another filter. It’s hard to know how much bleach is needed to kill pathogens and it will vary from water source to water source. The age of the bleach is also an important variable. It can lose a lot of power with time, which again, makes it tough to know how much to use. I’m also against long-term use of chemicals in my drinking water, period. It just doesn’t seem like a good idea to me. For shorter trips, I often use Aquamira drops which is my choice for chemical treatment, but for a full thru-hike I’ll always take a filter.
