Do not use other brands of filters. The filter may look a lot like other water filters but inside is a unique filtration membrane to remove bacteria and other contaminants that can sometimes be found in water. For added convenience there is no need to use bottled, filtered or pre-boiled water in the Perfect Prep machine. Used them in our perfect prep machine and haven’t had any problems. Instructions are simple and easy to understand. After following the instructions to the letter, which does include some slight faffing getting the air bubbles out, we have inserted the filter and added water but the water takes AGES to filter through. On average each Perfect Prep filter should last around 3 months, however this depends on the frequency of use and what size bottles you are preparing. The original Perfect Prep machine features a warning light which will indicate when the filter is due to be replaced and the Day & Night version will display a message on the screen. Love these for my prep machine although I do think they are a tad expensive! Mine though for some reason is being changed more like every 2 months rather than every 3 months.
