And that's great, but unfortunately it also means that just like with PCs, over time you can end up with a case full of dust bunnies. That of course reduces the effectiveness of the fan, and can have an effect on your console's cooling and the noise it makes when it's running hard. Once you have everything you need ready to go, lay down your console sideways and unplug your console. Doing so will allow you to have a better grip on the console.Find the right spot. Avoid putting the console in tight-fitting spaces or on the floor. You can mitigate dust buildup if the PS5 is on a table or an open cabinet.

Your PS5 most likely will have gathered a whole load of dust inside, especially up against the heatsink - which is responsible for keeping the Graphics Chip and other hardware cool. This causes the fan to increase in speed as the console attempts to combat the heat inside, and in turn creates a whole load of noise. For most of us, that's all you really need to do. But if you want to give your PS5 a deeper clean, here's how to do it. You should be able to do that by pulling it away from the top of the console –you don't need to use a lot of strength here, it should just pop off nice and easily. Once you've done that, remove the stand and the faceplate from the bottom. Put them somewhere safe. Use the canned air to blow out dust and debris, and gently wipe the console down with a cloth and some alcohol.Pull up with force, and at the same time push to the right, and the lid will come off. Discard for now. Remember, you should be doing this with the console placed horizontally, and make sure you remove the stand and store the small screw safely before starting.

It doesn’t matter if you have the digital or the standard version of PS5, you’ll need a can of compressed air, an adjustable vacuum, and a microfiber cloth. PS5 cleaning instructions from Sony are the same for both the Standard and Digital Edition of the console. For cleaning the plastic covers of the PS5 and the DualSense Wireless Controller use a soft, dry cloth. For any ports on the console that have accumulated any dirt or dust, use a dry cloth to wipe away the buildup.Now it's time for some digital dusting. If you don’t have the microfiber cloth, you can use a regular cloth, a brush, a wipe, or cue tips. Clean the Intake and the Exhaust Vents It's time to get inside the machine and give the heatsink a good clean, and this will solve your overheating problem.
