About this deal

It has worked perfectly for 8 months then 2 weeks ago it all went wrong. The controller is lit and saying not connected to aerial. I have tried to connect by pressing the 3 buttons but it just says connecting but never does. None of the buttons respond on the controller and my phone was disconnected and says that I need an app to connect. The Pure Go app says that it is too old for my phone. Digital radio plays all the time. This DAB adapter is easy to install, but you can pay to get a professional from somewhere like Halfords to install one for you if you’re unsure about how to do it. The Kenwood KTC looks suspiciously similar to one of our previous Best Buys, the Pure Highway 600, and we’d wager that they are the same device that has been rebranded. That means the Kenwood is easy to fit and works brilliantly, with no drop-outs on our test route. Designed as an easy-fit solution for the millions of vehicles on the road worldwide without digital radio, you’ll find Highway 600 easy to install in your car, in most cases you won’t even need any tools, just a few simple steps and you’ll be up and running.

Digital radio has had a significant impact on in-car entertainment over the past decade. The tech is now fitted to almost every new car as standard, and is how more than 60 per cent of us listen to the radio. There is even talk of permanently switching off the FM transmitters in the near future, making many car radios obsolete. Personal Assistant : Access your smartphone's smart features through Siri or OK Google voice control If you’re looking for a more discreet way to listen to DAB, then the AutoDAB USB is virtually invisible once installed. Rather than using a separate screen, a small box connects to your car via its USB port. This allows you to scan through stations and select them using the car’s infotainment system, even via the steering wheel remote controls if fitted. On the plus side, the instructions are the clearest of any we experienced, and the unit is simple to fit. The display is clear and easy to use, too, but unfortunately the DAB reception wasn’t great, with frequent drop-outs even on stronger stations. If you can’t use the (supplied) aux-in cable with your car, the FM transmission is also far too weak, making it unusable. On the down side though, the main unit comes with 2 AAA batteries, so doesn't get plugged. I knew this from the outset before I bought it anyway. I bought this because it was the best recommended DAB 2018. The sound quality depends on the quality of your car’s speakers, but if they are high-quality, the Pure Highway 400 is capable of producing a great sound, with more detail than you’d get from FM, provided you have a good DAB signal. Update announcement for models Evoke C-F6 and Evoke F3 with necessary action for continued internet radio service Before starting - there are several requirements needed to ensure a successful software upgrade via USB:

Reception is excellent and I haven't lost a signal yet, it even stays playing where I use to loose FM radio stations. So anyone interested in adding dab to there car I can highly recommend the Pure Highway.Good in high strength signal areas, but it tends to become a little patchy outside of densely populated areas. While this is true of DAB in general, compared to the OEM-fitted DAB systems that come in most of the modern cars we test at CAR, the Pure drops out much more frequently, and for longer periods of time.

Progress, eh? At some point in the indeterminate future (the government hasn’t actually put an exact date on it yet) the good old faithful analogue radio signal is going to be switched off – which means if you own a car without a DAB receiver, there’s a danger you might have to actually start talking to your passengers unless you do something about it. Installing the Pure Highway 600 is relatively simple. You need a 12V accessory or USB outlet to power the antenna, along with an existing car audio system. This needs to have either an aux input or FM radio – the Pure Highway 600 transmits over both, although the aux option provides better audio quality. The main difference over the Pure Highway 400 also tested here (below) is the addition of a separate microphone and phone connection option, allowing high-quality Bluetooth calls. Yet despite having this extra, the Kenwood is almost half the cost of the Pure. That makes it a bit of a bargain. The easiest way to enjoy DAB digital radio, Bluetooth music streaming from your mobile and hands-free calling in your car, this clever audio adapter is simple to fit and works seamlessly with your existing in-car audio system.
