I got together with a few of my fellow writers before we started the writing of season 4, in about November, December 2021, and I sort of said, 'Look, I think this maybe should be it. But what do you think?' This conflict is likely to drive the plot of Succession season 4. Other narrative threads are harder to pin down, though we expect Shiv’s unconventional marriage to Tom to come under the spotlight once again, after the latter betrayed his wife in exchange for Logan’s favor (so much betrayal in this family!).

There's a big fan theory that it's going to be none other than Cousin Greg who will be responsible for Tom getting his (inevitable and much-deserved) comeuppance, a theory that delves into Russian history.
