Off he goes. All the students are watching me with a feeling of reverential respect mixed with wonder. I remember when it happened. I am listening to the Dr. Rippy and I just realized I forgot to take notes on his lecture. What am I going to do? All my fellow students just walked out the door. I don’t want to tell Dr. Rippy how stupid I was to not take notes. Let me see, what was it; he was saying. Oh, I remember he was talking about the formula for changing a person’s frame of reference. You know I remember that complicated formula. He also talked about the different ways we can help people: by offering help, by indirectly helping them through their peers and you know I remember every single detail. I don’t need to take notes, it just all stayed in my head.

A remarkable heart-felt story that will have you crying and laughing all at the same time, The Memory Book is one underrated book of the year. The memory book made me seem to be a genius to the other students because they could see that I seemed to “never study”. I didn’t join study groups or study with others. I did not need to join a study group. I just got to totally enjoy college. I loved it because college was so very easy for me. Nothing to it, a piece of cake, it was absolutely positively wonderful a fantastic fun time for me! My new found mental abilities even astounded my professors. You’ll discover in this book a ten steps system to improve your memory using visualization and hearing (not the usual tedious repetition). This is a basic primer to the easier techniques in mnemonics, and will allow you to learn a great deal about how to memorize large quantities of information, pretty much about any topic, with a little bit of creativity. The techniques they cover are the Link, Substitute Word, Major, and Peg systems, as well as some other useful applications like names/faces, playing cards, locations, etc.Said main character with said devastating and ultimately fatal condition is a teenager who’s about to finish high school and has so many plans for her future. Plans which will never eventuate thanks to said condition. We have this perception that what we remember must be the truth, the full truth, and nothing but the truth. Yet, it happens more often than you might think to remember “creations” of your imagination rather than actual facts. How to Learn Almost Anything in 48 Hours: The Skills You Need to Work Smarter, Study Faster, and Remember More! – Tansel Ali Would you like to discover how to improve your memory for learning purposes? (e.g., mastering a new skill, career advancement, school) It's hard to remember words that don't make sense and it's better to come up with something that is easier to visualize. The authors give endless examples for that and I became jealous how easy it is for them. There is nothing that they can't simplify and I hope that it's just a matter of training or having the right mindset because it's the base of their system. Most people who are afraid of getting older, do so because they don’t remember what happened in their life so far.

Overall, it was devastating and hopeful and maybe a little profound. I'm so happy I took a chance and read something out of my comfort zone. I wonder why Professor Johnson wants to see me. He said he wanted me to come alone. I have never had a professor ask me to meet with them like this in such a clandestine manner. I wonder what he wants.

Anyone looking to improve their memory will be astounded by this book. You don't have to take drugs! Changed my perspective and incorporated its teachings into my everyday life. A must read! Oh, there’s Joe's room, he has his little green Greek book open and is in deep study. Let’s see, it is 5:00 P.M. I think I’ll go to the music room and practice the piano. Tja.. :')! From the first 25% I was really excited to give this book four stars, but then things started to change in the middle. For one, Sammie became slightly more unlikeable because she was the kind of person that wanted everyone to be up front to her, but she wasn't prepared to return the favour. (AKA. She was hiding her problems from her best friend and boyfriend, and while I understand the reasoning behind this - you don't want them to treat you differently - if they do then you can just talk to them. They're not very supportive if they don't take your feelings into consideration, and it just makes me sad that some people don't trust their friends enough to continue treating them like a real person even when something drastic has happened.)The Memory Book has many of the required elements for a book that will tug at your heartstrings and linger long after reading. - Our main character has a condition which will result in the loss of her memory and eventually her life.
