The ViewSonic XG2705-2K puts emphasis on the essentials to give gamers a comfortable and enjoyable gaming experience. The monitor offers a fast IPS panel which is standard for monitors this year, unlike their previous models which often came with TN screens. Let’s see how the ViewSonic XG2705-2K compares to its competitors when it comes to performance and value per dollar. ViewSonic XG2705-2K Specifications On Screen Display: Input Select, Audio Adjust, ViewMode, Colour Adjust, Manual Image Adjust, Setup Menu Setup Menu has more gaming oriented options. FreeSync and 1ms Mode (Strobing) are located here. Kinda wished they bundled all gaming options into one menu for ease of use. The Color Gamut test evaluates the color space coverage of the display panel from industry standards including sRGB and AdobeRGB. Higher percentage is better. If you like simple but functional, the looks of the XG2705-2K will suffice. Build quality is appropriate for its price tag along with a weight of about 4.4kg without the stand. Speaking, the finish of the stand could be better – had enough of faux brushed aluminum lately.

The screen barely shows any trailing or artifacts, so you don’t need to use too much overdrive to enjoy it. We recommend using its middle setting at the most since pushing it too much will induce overshoot.Color adjustment is decent. We wish to see more options here though like color temperature based on Kelvin and the ability to change saturation along with gamma level options. Note that some presets here will disable some functions or features. The sRGB color preset for example will disable the contrast control and 1ms mode. ViewSonic opted for a row of buttons for their OSD navigation. There are dots here so you could easily tell what each button does without looking at the not so useful physical legends. Highlights here are the excellent color coverage, accuracy and the denser PPI compared to the non-2K version. Screen uniformity and contrast ratio could be better though but everything else this monitor could offer is just too good for the price – that includes its ergonomic features. The 1440p resolution is perfect at 27 inches since it offers the best balance between legibility and increased sharpness. Games and movies look cleaner and more detailed, but your reading and document processing won’t suffer. You get a larger space to work with as well, so it’s a pleasure to use whether if it’s for work or play. Color coverage is pretty good, top of the class even. We also got results here for DCI-P3 at 97%, while NTSC falls at 89%. Tone Response
Manual Image Adjust is where some gaming related functionalities are located along with some ergo niceties. We have 3 levels of response time options here. The ViewSonic XG2705-2K is a FreeSync monitor but it also works with Nvidia’s G-Sync Compatible mode. This is an essential feature that basically doesn’t strap you down with one GPU brand when you upgrade. Input lag sits at 4ms at 144Hz, so there is no need to worry about delays while enjoying your fast-paced titles. Thoughts on the ViewSonic XG2705-2K The ViewSonic XG2705-2K renders more than 100% sRGB and around 97% DCI-P3 which is quite impressive for a budget model. Its default accuracy had a deltaE average of 1.67 which is fantastic for a budget model aimed at gaming enthusiasts. The screen looks balanced so most users will be happy with only a few minor changes to it such as its brightness setting.

That’s just me tho. Design, Build and Connectivity It’s not too big, but the ViewSonic XG2705-2K isn’t too modest as well when it comes to dimensions. The cabinet itself is slimmer than most same-sized monitors, but the stand is a bit beefier due to its overall design and functionalities. It needs almost 9.5 inches of depth and it’s quite heavy, but that can only mean that it’s a solid monitor even if it is less portable. The ViewSonic XG2705-2K supports the most common ergonomic features via its default stand mount. It is VESA mounted so if you need more flexibility, like requiring a horizontal lift feature, you could always get a mount for that function. The monitor is also good enough for portrait use.A step up in terms of resolution and performance, the ViewSonic XG2705-2K is a true upgrade from the XG2405 and the XG2705. Gamers who got those displays are welcome to grab this upgrade – especially with its affordable MSRP in tow. The stand included with the ViewSonic XG2705-2K offers tilt, swivel, pivot, and height adjustment to suit your needs. The company highlights this as a selling point, and we agree that it is an essential feature of a gaming monitor that ensures comfort and healthy use. You can swap it out with VESA mounts, but that’s only necessary if space is concerned. Power consumption is ~37.1W at the monitor’s maximum brightness level. At our calibrated value, this goes down to 20.6W. Button to Pixel Input Lag Target for calibration is a 2.2 Gamma value, with a White Point at 6500K and a Brightness value set at 120 cd/m2. Calibrated values are then analyzed with the Spyder5ELITE Display Analysis tool. Do note that Dynamic Contrast Ratio and other extra features built within the OSD are disabled during the tests. The following OSD values are selected for the display calibration. OSD Settings Panel uniformity for the ViewSonic XG2705-2K test unit could also be better since there were light leaks on the panel’s edges. This manifests as clouding when you are viewing dark scenes, but they aren’t as noticeable in full-color images. After all, it is the thing you’re going to see the most when using a PC. Basically, an ergonomically capable monitor must be able to allow height, tilt, swivel and pivot adjustments to provide you the best possible support to maintain a proper posture.
