About this deal

In the latter part of the book I delve into telepathy, distant healing, and prayer. Although these phenomena are often dismissed as pseudoscience, there is in fact a large amount of statistical evidence to support them, although it’s not widely known to the general public. As I discuss in the book, one of the key factors in the way they work is emotional connection: EEG and MRI studies show that the more emotionally connected two people are, the stronger any effects tend to be. A great balance of explaining the science and still being entertaining. Some similar books can get a bit heavy on the scientific protocols and come across as a bit hard to read. This was an enjoyable and educational read with a variety of topics. For a scientist I think he is brave in writing this book as he will tell you - there are many people out there that try and discredit those who believe it in something that generally brings up much skepticism among the masses.

Published (2012). This book expands on the teachings and interviews from the documentary film, Choice Point, produced by Harry Massey. The first part explores the placebo effect, visualization, meditation, and the link between suppressed emotions and disease. These are at what we might call the ‘lower end’ of woo-woo in that at least some people are aware of the scientific evidence that exists for them. I share that evidence with you, and also explain exactly how these phenomena and practices work. I then move on to the field of complementary medicine, presenting an overview of the many research studies that show reiki is an effective therapy for managing pain, depression, and anxiety, and sharing the science behind this ‘energy healing’ technique. In the chapter on crystals, I draw on Buddhist philosophy, the science of color psychology, and even the diamagnetic and paramagnetic properties of these mineral stones to explain precisely how they work for us.David has a first class honors degree in chemistry, specializing in biological and medicinal chemistry. He has the slightly geeky honour of having achieved 100% in his 3rd year university degree exam in ‘Statistical Mechanics’, which is a branch of quantum physics applied to chemistry.

Published (2005, 2006). In this first book by David Hamilton (originally self published), you will learn about the mind-body connection and the mind-world connection. If you I recorded it in a studio, a quite close to where I live in the studio is called good vibrations.Obviously, this is just a shortlist of what was talked about in Why Woo-Woo Works. There were a lot of things discussed that I found very interesting. Dr. Hamilton is a writer, columnist, speaker, kindness scientist and former organic chemist. He received his PhD in organic chemistry and worked in R&D in the pharmaceutical industry, developing drugs for cardiovascular disease and cancer. He eventually left the industry to write books and educate people how they can harness the power of their mind and emotions to improve their mental and physical health. We get very deep into the woo, but after exploring the extensive science behind it all we discover a lot of woo woo is actually TRUE WOO!!! Whether skeptic or believer this is an eye-opening, fun, and profound conversation.
