About this deal

Reading this book has not only made a difference to how I use the Productivity Planner but more importantly to my week. Beverley is an astoundingly successful businesswoman and clearly very intelligent but she isn't a natural author, and I'm surprised parts of this got past proof-reading stages.

However I do appreciate taking the approach of productivity as a means of self care, It’s an interesting point of view that we don’t hear more of and something that has resonated with me as I think too often it’s suggested that self care is supposed to be easy and instantly gratifying. Insightful, curious and refreshingly honest, Working Hard, Hardly Working will make you reflect on what you want from your life and work - and then help you chart your path to get there. Offers a fresh take on how to create your own balance, be more productive and feel fulfilled in the high-pressure social media age.' Cosmopolitan , 12 BEST NEW BOOKS TO READ The author or editor wanted so badly to fit into reddit culture and to appeal to the Millennial and Gen Z audience that they crammed at least one meme into every paragraph. Either that or the writer is a grad of the Harvard's music program who has somehow never read a book and is now a CEO. Fast forward to the present day and Rokeya is founder of the luxury clothing brand Khanum’s. Rokeya shares her incredible origin story, from initially spotting a gap in the market, to generating six figures in 7 months, all from what she viewed as a side hustle.Born to parents who moved from Bangladesh to East London, she was raised alongside her seven siblings and Rokeya has always been really honest about her childhood, opening up about her teen pregnancy at 17 years old where she was then made homeless, moving from hostel to hostel and barely affording the basic necessities. Q: I’m curious about the use of “hard” and “hardly” in that old play on words, “Are you working hard or hardly working?” Do the two usages have the same derivation or are they from different sources? A: In Old and Middle English, “hardly” was an adverb meaning energetically, forcefully, strenuously, or fiercely. And “hard,” which was an adverb as well as an adjective, had similar adverbial meanings. As a 28 year old who's been working for almost 10 years I think this might be a good read for people who find themselves in the start of their career and struggle to organize themselves and their time. In Old English, the adverbs “hardly” and “hard” were heardlice and hearde ( -lice and -e were adverbial endings). Both can be traced to hardu-, a root reconstructed from prehistoric Germanic, according to The American Heritage Dictionary of Indo-European Roots. The ultimate source was apparently the Proto-Indo-European root kar- or ker- (hard).

It inspired me to think about my life and how I can change my perspective of productivity, success and which role social media plays in it. In the 16th century, English writers began using “hardly” to mean “to an insignificant degree; scarcely, barely; not quite; almost not at all,” according to the dictionary, which describes this as “now the usual sense.” answering your top questions and dilemmas from how to make your application stand out, how to brand yourself as 'long-term' for future employers when your experience is short term and how to deal with constant rejection - now let's go job hunt🕵️ Grace Beverley balanced this very well by discussing the flipside of the coin: ‘Hardly Working’. This focused on practical tips for self-care and recharging to avoid burnout. I found myself writing loads of notes in a diary alongside reading and feel super motivated to implement her advice into my working life. She talks about how social media has influenced our understanding of productivity, „hustling“ etc. and how that is very damaging. In this episode we give a spotlight into the climate change crisis, why it’s important to stand up for what you believe and Mikaela comes armed with the do’s and don'ts.
