Eisenhorn is placed under arrest by the planet's regency government, accusing him of driving Eyclone to Hubris, but he archly informs them that Eyclone arrived on Hubris well ahead of Eisenhorn, and his sabotage of the cryonic cells was no spur-of-the-moment act of spite, but planned in advance. Nicméně úžasné odstavce popisující knihovníka Adapta Astarta, či obdržení boltrové pistole, dokáže ocenit jen opravdový fanda. I ostatní reálie světa jsou, pro znalé, krásným nahlédnutím pod povrch spousty institucí a běžného života v Impériu. This is a Medea Betancore short story that was included in the Special Edition of Penitent, and subsequently released in the anthology Inferno! Presents: The Inquisition. Skoro jsem litovala, že to o čem právě čtu, není skutečně a nemůžu se za něj provdat. Autor nás hned vhodí do příběhu bez nějaké předehry (ani na večeři mě nevzal a hned šel na věc:). Každopádně se příběh odehrává na vzdálených planetách, kde každá je v něčem unikátní (za mě top planeta rasy Sakuri). Jemně se odvíjí od skoro detektivní zápletky, která se rozvine ve spiknutí celovesmírného rozsahu. Vše vyprávěno v ich formě, mě to sedělo. Hlavní hrdina je inkvizitor, což je takový zajímavý mix mezi agentem Mulderem z Akta X, Rambem ze trojky a cynikem z Kulhánkových knih, morální je nezlomný, vtipnosti ale moc nepobral, to je snad má jediná výtka. Možná ještě bych více ubral military...
