Some might lament the changes Google has made to Chrome OS lately as ruining the focused, modal experience it used to offer (especially for writing), but features like a proper notification system and windowed apps make it a much more mature platform, and more familiar to the vast majority of computer users out there. The C740 Chromebook comes with a full-sized keyboard in a standard Chrome OS arrangement. It may not look that nice, but the keyboard is great for typing anything from tweets to novels (and this review), and I never had issues with any aspect of it. The key caps are slightly textured, don't wobble around, and have plenty of travel to them. One thing that’s not often focused on with Chromebooks is that, eventually, Google will pull the plug on updates. However, that takes quite a while, and it’s detailed well in advance. The C720 doesn't have the most colorful or accurate display, but it's on a par with other Chromebooks.
