Design The main selling point of the Cressi F1 is that it’s a frameless dive mask, meaning there’s no hard frame in between the skirt and lens. The frame of the Cressi F1 Mask is made from a durable plastic that can withstand harsh conditions. The skirt and strap are made from soft silicone, which makes them more flexible and comfortable than other materials. The skirt of the mask is also designed to retain your ears in position when swimming underwater. I wonder what effect these yellow lenses will have underwater. The Cressi materials say the yellow increases the contrast and makes objects more visible, as well as increasing the vibrancy of the colors underwater.The Fameless and Single Lens design of the Cressi F1 mask has some great features, but it does have a some need for special care. The Frameless feature means there is not plastic or metal frame holding the glass in place against the Silicone skirt. The Strength of this Mask is in the Glass. Therefore we feel you need to have a bit more care for this mask, as you could easily damage it if you don’t.
One thing to note when looking at prices, is that although it is related, the price doesn’t always reflect the quality. There are some great masks on the market, even for smaller faces, at very affordable prices. It is made with a soft silicone skirt that is comfortable and will not leak. I also like that being frameless it’s a little kinder to the old money maker (my face) as it doesn’t exert so much pressure. Skirts - the mask skirt isn’t just to colour co-ordinate your dive suit! It will impact the amount and quality of vision around you. A clear or transparent skirt allows more light to give you clearer all-round sight (like a panoramic sunroof!) Although the extra light can create reflections and could cause a distraction if you’re not used to it. But, if you suffer with claustrophobia or think you might feel hemmed in, this is one for you. The Cressi F1 Mask is an excellent choice if you’re new to diving or snorkelling and want an affordable mask that will last you for years. For such a low price, the quality is incredible! A newcomer to scuba diving would be well-advised to try out this mask.
